He has the best OPS+ of his career this year. I wouldn't put him back in the field, unless they revoke the DH rule.

1. You can't prove the 2 are because of each other.

2. Devers was on pace for a career year in 2024, at 3B, before the injury.

He should try playing 1B, at some point. It makes too much sense to avoid.

Prior to the injury, he had an OPS of 937. That's good, but not the pace he's been hitting since April 2nd.

Glad to see you are finally coming around.

cora is too scared of what he can say because of devers' fragile ego. He didn't have that problem with vergugo.

So you're saying he's not actually scared of Devers but scared of damaging Devers's ego.  Seems like your story is changing.

No, not changing at all. I never stated he was scared of devers physically.

So?

He was on pace for his career high, and it was higher than it is, now.

Also, look up Devers OPS from 4/24/24 to 8/2/24.

What does 8/2 have to do with anything? That was well AFTER he injured his shoulder? You just said he was on a career pace BEFORE the injury. I agreed, but said the pace he's on right now is even better.

The same thing you did by arbitrarily picking a time Devers did better and not all of 2025 vs all of 2024 up to the injury.

There's just no point even talking about Devers playing 1B any more.  Toro and Romy are doing well.  Casas will be back next year.

Continuing to talk about this is like beating your head against a wall for no reason.

Agreed.  That ship has sailed.

He didn't have any sort of ST and struck out basically every at bat the first few games. It's safe to ignore those PA's at the moment.

To me, asking if I'm disappointed Devers would move over to 1B and am I angry at him for not moving to 1B are two entirely different questions.

After Casas went down it would have made the most optimal roster construction sense for him to be willing to do that for the team.  But he is who he is, and he hits......so whatever.

Raffy is doing what’s best for the team in being the DH.

Who would be the DH? My optimal roster construction still has Raffy at DH.

Oh, I get why we'd like to ignore those PAs.

It's safe to say, Devers has been at his best, over the last 2 seasons, when you throw out the times he player hurt or was coming back from it.

We can complain about real, imaginary and questionable things he feels or has said and been translated, but the guy is at his best, when at bat.

That's why he should only be DH.

He hit very well at 3B, last year.

We dont know how playing 1B would affect him.

I don't care. He's going to be DH going forward. I'm not going to try to fix something that's not broken.

It worked when we "fixed" the 3B problem.

Yes, we took the glove out of his hand and he became a better hitter. Why take a bad fielder and put him back into the field?

I'd say being 4 games under .500 and 9 games out is definitely broken.

He was just talking about Devers at DH.  Try to stay on topic.

Not just a bad fielder, but a real bad fielder, and I have never gotten the philosophy of moving him to another position. He is fine right where he is DH, and calling him all the bad names in the world isn’t going to make it happen. Some poster called him insubordinate, because he hasn’t gone to 1B, but his manager has never told him to go to 1B, so I don’t know how that is insubordinate.

He was told that he was going to be a 3b for a long time. He asked if they were going to sign a 3b and they said no. When they signed Bregman, he had a right to be annoyed. He came to ST, still hadn't been communicated with and worked on his hitting. There was an initial press conference where the translator misspoke and made Raffy out to look very angry, but he was just matter of fact stating what he knew from his conversations with Cora. They worked on it behind the scenes and he sucked it up and became a great DH. It wasn't a distraction to anyone in the clubhouse. It was just a good story for everyone in the media. Once injury plagued Casas fell apart again, it was just time for the media to complain about Raffy rather than go after Breslow for not having a better plan from the beginning.

A "right to be annoyed"??? The team first attitude is "the addition of Bregman makes us a better club. I'll play wherever I am told to play, to the best of my ability".

Obviously that did not happen. And given the state of the team now it doesn't matter where he plays. They still will not be playing baseball in Oct.

I would say this sums things up pretty well.

No, he didn't. He was just as good, last year.

Also, I'm not for moving him to 1B, this season. I was at the start of ST'ing and in the past, and may be this coming winter.
