They knew he couldn't pitch in 2024 so some genius determined that he was worth 40 million for one year! That is front office malpractice and should be a fireable offense.

This isn't true. The injury happened in Spring Training.

Giolito stunk in 2023, right after which Breslow signed him for $40M.  For all we know, the 2024 injury in ST was connected to Giolito's horrible finish in 2023.

Guerrero , like many relievers, is at his pitch limit of 34.  Time to sit down after B to B walks.

Sack Kelly ready to save the day.

No game tomorrow = everyone pitches

… and just like that Soriano settled.

Rafaela’s (un)discipline at plate in the 1st inning taxing us.

Soriano’s a sinker baller.  Not unusual for them to have trouble early and then settle down; the arm tires a little  and the ball sinks a tad more.

Holy shite. I obviously thought the $19,250,000 was for two years. Thanks for the correction.

So then this is his 38 million dollar season. What a bargain

Makes the 6 mil Smoltz stole from the Sox look like pocket change.

True. He was coming off a season in which he became the first pitcher to give at 8 earned runs in a start for three different teams in the same season and Breslow deemed him worth 38.5 million. And some doctor passed him and he doesn't make it through spring training.

I liked the fact that Cora let him work through it and he got the DP grounder.  You can’t learn to get out of jams if you get taken out every time you get in one.

Of course, Luis gets the inning ending DP.   So good for him

How much longer can Gio's leash be?

Man, what another horrible signing!

Our three largest FA contracts given since JD's $110M/5 in 2018, not counting the Nate re-signing in 2019 at $68M/4:

$140M/6 Story

$90M/5 Yoshida (not counting posting fee)

$39M/2 Giolito

(The two signings, Jansen & Martin at about $70M, were better than all of these top 3 deals combined.)

We all know how big contracts often fail to meet expectations, and these deals were not even close to the biggest deals in MLB over the last 6-7 years, but these 3 major strike outs are one of the main reasons we keep sucking.

Narvaez is one of the very few bright spots to the Sox season and roster.

Good trade to get him. He looks like he can hit and he is a good defensive catcher so far.

He wasn't necessarily injured, but we're not sure he was necessarily healthy. He looked rough the second half of the season before he was signed.

Terrible AB by Raffy

You could see it coming with the first swing.  He’s trying to go yard.  100 mph sinkers aren’t conducive to that.

This is the kind of game one would envision if the White Sox were playing the Rockies.

Rockies can actually sweep their opponents.

That’s the story of your 2025 Red Sox when you really need to execute in big moments.

Devers is the least of our problems though.

He has a good approach at the plate.  Let’s hope he is uncoachable wrt the Sox hitting philosophy of launch ball.

I think Chapman and Wilson have been good too but Yoshida, Gio and Story overshadow them.

Not necessarily. His attitude hasn't exactly been helpful.

Uh, quick question: what the hell is wrong with this team? Every time I turn around I'm shaking my head at a box score.

Long story short? This team is massively bad managed, coached and run.
