Exactly!

You guys are hyper critical.  The problem today is Giolito.  Everything else pales into insignificance.

With his pitch count I don't know how many innings they can get from the 20 million guy?

They are going to keep giving this guy starts, but I don't think they should.

I think that's right--that Cora and Breslow have tenure because of the Sox situation.

I do not think Cora is the problem.  Today we saw yet again what has happened too often this season.  The starting pitcher has done his level best in the very first inning to keep the Sox from winning.

In addition,  Bregman's injury was followed by the Sox going 3-8 in the next 11 games with the lineup scoring an average of 2.45 runs per game.  That ain't on Cora either.

And let's not forget that Breslow signed Giolito for $40M for 2 seasons.  He missed all of the first one and so far is pitching as though the Sox would be better off he had missed this season as well.  Plus Breslow dumped Sale while paying his first year's salary--after which Sale won the NL Cy Young last year.   This year Sale is not that good, but is still the best pitcher on the Braves staff.   Whit his 5 quality starts, 67.2 IP, and 3.06 ERA he would be our 2d best starter.

Credit Breslow for Crochet, Bregman, Narvaez (a great get!), and Chapman.  Credit Bloom for Yoshida and Story--both big disappointments given their salaries.  Credit Bloom, mostly, for the talent coming from the farm system.

It is what it is.

Bloom only had analytics to advise him about selecting players at the MLB level . I doubt he had much intuitive baseball knowledge at higher levels.     His education tells me a lot  about his bright mind, but no real usable smarts.

Breslow should actually have a much better feel for guys who will succeed and those who won't, but it hasn't shown up much yet, Narvaez being an exception.

Anyone want to guess who signed our $40M/year thirdbaseman who just had a repeat of an injury 2 or 3 seasons ago?  And how did it happen?   He rounded first base, that's how.

That dang green goober Wally! Someone take the phone away from him and kick him out of LF in the offseason.

Nahhhh it’s pointing out the obvious. Rafaela’s stupidity cost us at very least one more run.

Cora pretty much begged Brez to sign Bregman.

Yeah, At this point it is what it is and hoping Crawford and Sandoval come up at some point.

is Gio making 20 M? Really? Lol wow! But they were greedy with Duran, weren’t they?

Are you going to start yelling about Mayer's 540 OPS at some point? Is he ready enough for you?

I think Mayer shows a lot more plate presence and recognition than Campbell does.    I'm not yelling at anybody, nor for them.    Campbell isn't just in a slump, he is currently seriously flawed at the plate.

Mayer also may not be ready but let's give him as many PA's as Campbell to see if he can adjust.

Rafaela is a good  example of someone who does not adjust but is posting just enough numbers to  back up his flyball saving defense .  Doesn't make him a good player, just affordable in a 9 man lineup.

Trouble is, the team should not have to afford 3 of those guys at once.

Same injury, different leg.

Now Cora/Kennedy/Breslow are supposed to predict potential weird injuries?  This is a post I’d expect of some posters here but you’re far better than this.

He signed for 2 years for 20 mil. Seeing that he didn't pitch at all in '24, this is his 20 mil season.

I imagine that Gio goes back on the IL tonight due to some butt soreness.

No MLB veteran pitcher gives up 4 in the 1st, has his team actually score 5 for him, then gives back 3 more  without being  physically incapable of pitching

Either that or he was tipping; the Angels were on everything.

Lucas Giolito signed a 2 year, $38,500,000 contract with the Boston Red Sox, including $38,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $19,250,000.

He would make us a favor. It’s called  addition by subtraction.

In theory, Breslow did predict an injury as he didn't go large AND long on the contract. Bregman wanted 6 or 7 years.

They knew he couldn't pitch in 2024 so some genius determined that he was worth 40 million for one year! That is front office malpractice and should be a fireable offense.

… and just like that Soriano settled.

Rafaela’s (un)discipline at plate in the 1st inning taxing us.

Holy shite. I obviously thought the $19,250,000 was for two years. Thanks for the correction.

So then this is his 38 million dollar season. What a bargain

I definitely blame Breslow for the disastrous hiring of Giolito and paying Sale to win the CY Young award for the Braves.  Both were horrible.

But I do recognize that he is trying to build back when JH and CB managed to tear down.  In the interim Breslow is stuck with Story and Yoshida.
