Maybe Woo and Triston can be traded mid-at bat.

Boston never makes that trade. They can't risk confusing customers and fans of Fenway Park and the Polar grounds (thrown out after morning coffee).

Imagine the advertising angst if Bryan becomes our new ace and FOX starts promoting a Sunday night telecast of Woo's Sox.

At least YOUR concern is valid.

I always get to Campbell's spot to figure out what madness Cora is up to. 😔

When does devers get dropped down in the order?

Before STL 398 OPS

STL 1824 OPS (He's back! No injury concerns everyone!)

After STL 586 OPS

So, do you think he gets dropped?

On one hand, it may take some pressure off and let him find himself and get going.

On the other hand, cora and company may be concerned about another blow to his ego after being moved off 3rd base.

Or, this may be who he is now considering his numbers since last year's All Star break.

Never.

I wouldn't mind seeing him 4th, but not as a demotion, but for more RBIs. (I also see RHBs Campbell or Bregman as a good fits for the 2 slot.)

So you would want a guy struggling to stay above the Mendoza line with a sub-.700 OPS batting clean-up?

That doesn't sound like it would produce a lot of rbi's.

What a huge letdown thus far. They have to come back. This season looks like a carbon copy of last year. Inconsistent ********.

YES!

Again, I do not think what a player has done in their previous 20-25 games is what he will do in his next 20-25 ot 140 games. I think the data shows this to be true.

I'm all for playing the hot hands and moving people up and down based on streaks, but Devers has a long history of being a little streaky and ending up with fantastic numbers when the year is over.

It's not absurd to think devers will snap out of it.

Well, post AS break last year he batted .244 with a .727OPS.

Combine that with this year and it's far more than a 20-25 game sample size.

I think last years end to the season was injury-related.

Maybe, this year's are, too. I don't know.

I'm not at the point you are, but certainly if this continues, I'd think about it.

You also have to look at the luck factor and hard hit %.

2025 Sox with 50+ PA Hard Hit %:

47% Devers (n all fairness, he is just 5th in LD% at 19.4%)

38% Abreu

36% Story

35% Bregman

32% Duran

31% Rafaela & Narvaez

28% Campbell

23% Casas

I'd give him a few more weeks (not days and not tomorrow.)

AUG 1 to today:

39% Devers

36% Abreu

33% Duran

Devers is my favorite player--probably since I saw him in Portland,  But this DH b.s.?  it's not working.   I'd rather see him traded to anywhere he can play 3B (or first--just get him on the field instead of brooding in the dugout).  He shows no sign of recovering from being jerked around this spring.

A while ago, some were wondering about keeping Duran leading off, due to his slow start. In the past 2 weeks (12 games) he has a .351 OBP- not great but one of the best on the team.

Knee jerk decisions don't work all that often.
