But sure, there has to be a place to play Hickey and see where he lands. Ive always been more excited about Jonafran, but we need to see who he is after that injury.

Sure, but when catchers move to 1b, its usually (not always) a desperate attempt to save a plummeting prospect (Blake Swihart)

With Hickey, the glove was always a question and the likelihood of him having to move to 1B/LF was always in consideration. I don't believe there is desperation here, it's just the realization that C isn't working out.

Just like Blake.

Just a reminder that not all prospect work out. Granted Mr Money here was drafted after the 20th round and never did much of anything. If SoxProspects were around back then, he would have been a guy that only got mentioned offhandedly and never with any serious intent.

Despite starting the year with 5 pitchers on the IL (Bello, Gio, Crawford, Sandoval & Penrod,) we might still have pretty good looking AAA pitching staff on paper.

Assuming this is the ML 13: Crochet, Houck, Buehler, Fitts, Newcomb, Chapman, Slaten, Whitlock, Hendriks, Wilson, Criswell, Bernardino & Ottavino...

Priester, Dobbins, Fulmer. N Davis, Drohan

Guerrero, Kelly, Weissert, Winckowski, Adams, Mata, I Campbell, Mills, Moore

When pitchers come off the IL, maybe others go on it, but the AAA staff could end up looking nicer than it has in a long time.

Depending on how many of the big 3 are at AAA, the everyday players look rather light.

Zavala/Sabol/Kolozsvary

Hickey

Campbell (Grissom)

Mayer? (Ferguson)

Toto (Miller)

Anthony (Sykes)

Eaton (maybe Jh Garcia before too long)

Thompson

Sogard

Jovani Moran joins Perales, Noah Song, Brandon Neely and others on the MiLB 60 Day IL.

Sandoval, Murphy and Penrod are listed on the soxprospects.com MLB 60 Day IL list on the 2025 Roster page, but not on the 40 Man Roster page.

Sandoval, Murphy and Penrod are all listed on the SoxProspects 40 man roster page when I look at it. Murphy and Penrod haven't been added to the 60 day IL yet per MLB.

Mayer with another tater today.
Giolito looked pretty good.

Jap Stock looked pretty good, too- and for longer.

Hard to sit Story or Bregman to give Mayer a shot.

Could Campbell to LF, Duran to CF and Abreu/Ref in RF make room for Mayer at 2B?

Rafaela could be that uberutility man Cora has always wanted. DHam and Narvaez would complete a very nice bench.

50 pitches in 2.1 Innings isn't going to cut it for Gio.

Lots of must see talent has come through Portland the last few years that I have watched. What’s must see in Portland this year if anything?

Pitchers:
Sandlin

Early

Monegro

I'm higher on Early than the other two. Monegro is exciting to watch on the field but has a lower ceiling.

Hitters:

Romero

Jhostynxon

That's it for now and the only new addition from the end of last season is Monegro, I believe.

Midseason callups:

Jedixson Paez

Payton Tolle?

Juan Valera?

Justin Riemer could be a little Chase Meidroth-ish.

Nelly Taylor is a great OF defender and started swinging the bat well at the end of last season.
