Pitchers:
Sandlin

Early

Monegro

I'm higher on Early than the other two. Monegro is exciting to watch on the field but has a lower ceiling.

Hitters:

Romero

Jhostynxon

That's it for now and the only new addition from the end of last season is Monegro, I believe.

Midseason callups:

Jedixson Paez

Payton Tolle?

Juan Valera?

Justin Riemer could be a little Chase Meidroth-ish.

Nelly Taylor is a great OF defender and started swinging the bat well at the end of last season.

We might see Perales, some.

Two of the biggest risers in the last ranking.

Juan Valera

Brandon Clarke

Valera is 18 and will start in high A.  He will be the second youngest player in high A, he will be the youngest pitcher in all of high A. He’s getting a ton of hype.

Clarke was a 5th round pick last year who I admittedly know little about….and now I go to google but lots to be excited about.

prospect, or suspects as some may put it can break your heart.  But we seemingly have some good pitching talent on the system we have. Or had in a very long time.

There were some real movers in the new soxprospects, com rankings:

Since we traded #4 Teel, #5 Montgomery and #8 Meidroth, moving up 2-3 slots for most should be viewed as attrition.

Romero #16>6

Valera #23>7

Sandlin #14>8

Early #17>10

Bleis fell from #9 to #15 (but counting attrition, it was worse than that.)

Paez 28 >16

S Soto NR > 17

Clarke NR >18

Ju Gonzalez 30 >19

Narvaez NR >20

D Reyes 27>21

S Delzine NR>29

Jo Garcia fell from #19>30th. Not sure why they kept Castro in the top 30 at #25.

#18 Wikelman &, #25 E R-C were traded away.

Some gutsy calls, but I like most of them.

I'd have Castro out of the top 40. I would not have dropped Jo Garcia so much.

7 of the top 13 are pitchers, but just 1 in the top 6.

13 of the top 24 are pitchers, as well as 17 of the top 31.

Thought it was June last year

That's pushing it for traditional TJS return this year. I think they'd be better off just rehabbing.

I agree with SP jumping Valera up and bumping Dobbins and Bleis down. Soto got a huge bump and I don't know if they should be putting him in front of Gonzales already. Could this be another instance where they get on the hype train of a guy? IDK. Romero is probably a little high for me, but reports are that he's back to a contact approach with power instead of a power first approach. Health is a concern and he needs a full season before I'd have him above Fitts and Early as I value SP prospects highly.

I didn't notice this at first. I wonder if there are larger concerns with Johanfran's knee now and the ability to stay behind the plate?

We made it. It's POR, GRE and SAL Opening Day!

Uberstine, Mullins and Aita get the starts.

Everybody loves opening day!!!!!

uberstine - another offseason removed from ucl surgery.

mullins - showed decent stuff last year. Not sure about command and control though

However, I'm going to say that Aita has the stuff that gets a guy to AAA pretty quickly. Don't know if he'll take that additional step, but he should handle the low minors fairly easily. If he continues to add velo, his stock goes to the top 20 easily.

GRE won 9-3 as Mullins pitched 4 shut out innings. Taylor homered while going 2-4 with a BB. Brannon went 3-5 and Zanetello walked 3 times and going 1 for 2.

Jh Garcia continued the BB brigade (1-3 w 2 BB.) Ravelo went 2-5. Sandlin got the win (5IP , 3H, 2ER, 3BB, 3K.)

SAL won 4-2, as Arias stayed hot, going 3-4. Cespedes and Encarnacion both went 2-4. Tygardt & Ehrlicher split the first 5 innings, allowing just 1 H and 0 ER (3BB/6K) Sansone finished the game, going 3.1 with 1 ER allowed.

WOO lost 10-6. Fulmer K'd 8 of the 10 outs he got but walked 3. A Grissom error added 2 UNER to the 2 ERs he allowed. Webb got drilled. Mayer went 2-5 and Eaton homered (2-3 w BB.)

GRE scored 2 in the 1st off 4 hits, then were no hit the rest of the game in a 3-2 loss. Valrea went 3.2 w 3H, 2ER, 3BB and 7Ks. Ingrassia went 4.1, 2H, 1ER, 0BB & 8Ks, for an excellent day. The staff K'd 17 batters.

Salem is now 3-0, after a 6-5 win, today. Arias continues to lead the way. His OPS went down over 100 points by going just 1 for 3 w a BB. Yuten went 2-4 w a 2B.

Early pitched well for POR, but they are down 1-0 in the 5th. (3.2 IP, 0H, 0ER, 2BB, 7Ks) Ravelo's error led to the UnER.

Woo is up 2-1 in the 6th as Bello went 3.1 (4H, 1ER, 1BB, 4K.) Maybe he will be called up, soon. (1 more AAA start?)

On Sox newest prospect, I'd put Yophery Rodriguez behind Jhostynxon Garcia and ahead of Miguel Bleis (if using SP's ranking) at 15.

Baseball America had him at #15 in MIL's system, so maybe that will be his landing spot.

I'll guess 21st, after Narvaez.

New guy yophery with two hits.

Tolle got beat like a drum

arias is on fire along with half the position players at Salem

Romero got a hit, but he looked frozen from the cold

Woo is playing a Single Admission DH today.

I saw a triple header at PAW once as they had a DH scheduled and had to finish a prior game that ended due to rain.
