Criswell lets Royals back in the game.

He did not have much tonight, just kind of slinging the ball up there, no command nor control

He just pitched 2 innings Saturday. Cora trying to get to much out of him.

we gave up 4 players for this guy?

I think 3 or all 4 are very likely to be Rule 5 pickups postseason, and there was no real place for them on the 40 man roster

Great win, despite some mistakes on D and the basepaths. Gotta win these games vs our closest competition.

Paxton got the job done. Kudos.

Another terrific win. Great start by Paxton and great hitting by the Sox. Plus a neat play by Hamilton on the grounder and a terrific grab by Rafaela off the wall in CF.

We are tied with KCR in the loss column.

(They have 3 more wins.)

It's 2024, and the AL East still has the best W-L record of the six MLB divisions. Only the Jays have a losing record, and it's 51-61, .455. Meanwhile, the Yankees and Orioles are both 67-46.

Sox are 1.5 behind the Royals for the 3d wild card and 3 behind the Twins for the 2d wild card.

Here are Sox OPS's vs righty pitchers: Devers 1.134; Jansen 1.000 (6 AB's); Duran .936; Abreu .910; Sogard .855 (10 AB's); Yoshida .803; Ref .769; Wong .743; Hamilton .726; Smith .718; Rafaela .702; Gonzalez .593.

Lefty bats against Lugo have cumulative OPS of .629. Righty bats .573.

On July 13 in Boston Lugo went 5 IP and gave up 10 hits, 5 runs, and one dinger (Devers). Lineup was Duran, Hamilton, Yoshida, Devers, Ref, Abreu, Smith, McGuire, and Rafaela.

I'm surprised by the AL Central having the best team in MLB and 2 WC teams, as of now.

It's a little surprising, but to me it would be more surprising if there were no ebbs and flows with this stuff.

They get to play the White Sox more than clubs in other divisions do...

... though the Pale Holes are 2-2 vs. the Blushing Stirrups -- with three more at Fenway in September (let's hope those games still mean something by then)!

The Royals and the Twins are both 12-1 against the White Sox.

The Tigers are 5-1.

The Guardians are an appalling 5-5. The Guardians and the Rays (2-4 vs CWS) have combined for 1/3 of the White Sox wins…

The 2024 Pale Hose are on pace to have MLB’s worst record since 1916 and most losses since 1899…

We did our best to help them avoid this.

It helps to have 27-88 White Sox in their division.

Indeed. I will say, their 4th place team, DET at 53-60, looked a lot better, early on and is 1 GB the ALW 3rd place team (TEX.)

They are the only division with three 63 win teams.

The NLW has 3 with 61+.

The ALE has 3 with 60+.

Record against everyone but the White Sox (not counting tonight)

Red Sox: 58-49

Twins: 51-46

Royals: 51-49
