Fedde is even better than I expected, but I'd do it, since Fedde has another year of control. 5 years for 1.3 seems like a big hit on the future, but we need pitching and have OF depth.

We have to give to get, so I'd give Abreu plus Paulino or Castro for Fedde.

I like the idea of Abreu and Yorke for Fedde and reliever (Brebbia?)

If we are to be buyers, I'd try...

Abreu + Valdez> SP3/4

Meidroth + Paulino> RP

Yorke + Lugo and Castro> RP + RHB

Abreu & 1-2 from Jordan/Paulino/Castro/Valdez for Fedde

Yorke & Lugo plus 1-2 from Jordan/Paulino/Castro/Valdez for a RP (Tanner Scott?)

That makes sense.

Soxprospects definitely likes him, but doesn’t hide that he is a wild card and a long way off…

Lmmfao!

Trade a 20 year old with a high K rate for a 36 year old stiff

Brilliant!

Wow! You actually got one age right. You are improving, and that's a fact!

In the words of Kramer at cnbc, sell! Sell! Sell! Sell! Sell!! O’Neil and Jansen and pivetta

Upgrade for 2025!

I hope we buy (with Abreu and/or prospects ranked 10-30,) but if we don't, I'd prefer selling than doing nothing or next to nothing. (Jansen, O'Neill, Pivetta, Martin, Anderson and maybe McGuire or Ref (w 1 year left.)

Not sure Pivetta brings much back at this point. I'd probably keep him just to save innings even if the Sox were in sell mode (they aren't).

Martin is injured so I don't think they are getting much out of him. McGuire and Refsnyder have zilch for trade value.

Not sure why you continuously poo-poo Ref.

Besides, I did not expect to get much for McGuire, and not a ton for Ref.

I'm sorry, what's his current trade value on BTV?

I don't pay for that site.

It's not even worth discussing.

Some team might want a back-up catcher. They may give up a level A prospect: they may not.

Lol

Keep on posting moon , you ain’t been wrong yet!

Cora will be biggest move of 24

Epstein will be more involved next season

Next winter Soto says he’s open to staying in the Northeast to include Boston, stay tuned

Mayer Yorke Teel on the way

You ain’t winning this year, dump deadweight and start with Jansen “if “ Slaton is close to returning

Jansen has most value

Nixon Rafaela Soto “oh my”

I get plenty wrong, and admit it, easily.

Slaten is not even scheduled for a rehab game, yet. So much for "facts."

Nixon, who?

I mentioned the age mistake, because you've gotten the ages wrong like 8 out of the last 10 times, right before saying "that's a fact."

Let's go for it...

Anthony, Bleis, Fitts and any 3 from Valdez, Lugo, Wikelman, Paulino, Castro and Jordan

for

Crochet (2 arbs), Fedde ($7.5M '25) & DeJong (Rental)

2024 (2025)

SP: Houck, Crochet, Crawford, Fedde, Bello (Giolito)

RP: Jansen (Hendriks), Slaten, Pivetta (Whitlock), Criswell, Bernardino, Kelly, Weissert (Fulmer)

C Wong, McGuire (Teel)

1B Casas

2B DHam/Romy (Mayer, Story, Grissom, Campbell)

SS DeJong, Romy/DHam/Rafaela (Mayer)

3B Devers

LF Duran, Refsnyder (Campbell)

CF Rafaela/Abreu

RF O'Neill (Abreu) Refsnyder

DH Yoshida, Refsnyder/Valdez (Lugo/Yorke)

It would be a trade for 2024 and 2025. Crochet makes the window 2024 to 2026, and losing Anthony, Bleis and Fitts does not squash the longer term outlook from 2026>2028+.

Who would've thought the Red Sox' best trade chips would be young outfielders -- after a half decade of early drafting and stockpiling middle infield prospects? Btw, as far as I can tell, the only best players available to be moved to the outfield in that time have been Yorke and Lugo.

But now with Montgomery already rated as high as #63 in Baseball America's Top 100 list, there's no doubt Boston's young talent surplus is in the outfield.

Getting serious about the Sox' best options to fortify the '24 roster in the next week: another starting pitcher is needed, but maybe not as much in the immediacy as a reliable reliever having a good year. I could be wrong, but a guy like Tanner Scott should also cost considerably less than starters like Crochet or Skubal...

The big move to watch for is not in baseball. It is if Henry decides to make a bid for the Celtics. Reportedly the asking price will be around 5 billion. If Henry makes a bid it will deprive the baseball team of financial flexibility needed to sign any high end players.

Because of the expense, I am hoping Henry decides the Celtics asking price will be too rich for his tastes. Although he has not yet ruled out making a bid.

Duran was a middle infielder at Long Beach St…

Neither was Lugo.

Gonna be one of those days, huh. What's your take on the entire point of my post, that a surplus of Red Sox outfielders and not infield prospects may have the most trade value this week?

Not if they won't open that bag of chips...

... unless development people think his best position is already occupied by the face of the franchise they're committed to paying over $300 million.

Present day posturing is Mayer is off limits.

If so, their best trade chip is Campbell…

Posted
Besides trading legit prospects, there's also the possibility of taking someone's salary dump like the Mets did when they got Maton from the Rays.

Agreed. Unless you're shooting the moon -- like moon -- then Braden Montgomery just made Anthony a better chip.

Miguel Bleis might be their best.

I know he’s struggling, but that’s not so uncommon for those toolsy guys who are never evaluated on their stats anyway…
