Then Rafaela shows his power and launches one. Meanwhile Bello is showing the power of the night with the shutout string of innings

Assuming Refsnyder will be on board , at least to late July, the OF will be crowded when O'Neil gets off his 7 day IL, and feels stable. Who will benefit most from a a few months in Worcester ? Cedanne helps himself by playing short, still problematic with the bat. Abreu has power, may be making some consistency progress . Duran is locked in place. This is a tough one to sort out because Ref is limited in his role as a true bench/PH only vs LH'ers. O'Neill will stay until trade deadline, or longer based on recent year history at the deadline

Dalbec's pending DFA can only cover one slot, leaving Reyes as the 3Bman behind Devers who may have physical problems for awhile.

One of those OF'ers could DH, if we decided to give up on Yoshida.

DH: Duran v R/ Ref v L

LF: Abreu v R/ Duran v L

CF: Rafaela

RF: O'Neall

OR

DH: Yoshida v R/ Ref v L

LF: Duran/Abreu

CF: Rafaela/Duran

RF: O'Neill/Abreu

(Same OF as before O'Neill got hurt.)

Rafaela crosses MLB's new Mendoza line (.500 OPS.)

.500 is a good SLUGGING -- like careers of Fenway Rice .502 and Coors Story .502.

I like your other stat better, but it's a counting number: Totality Total Bases (on H + BB.. but not HBP or Catcher Int).

Kill the 3b coach.

reminiscent of a few years back. Who was the coach who routinely sent everyone home for a put out?

Send ‘Em In Wendell Kim and Dale Sveum.

Neither play was close. For the Yoshida one I was like wtf are you sending him home for?

Maybe a little extreme…

Maybe

This team makes too many mistakes. Can’t have the coaches adding to it. To the wall!

And in a blow out, why send Dalbec and risk a weird collision at the plate?

Surprised Bobby D did not rupture every muscle in his leg and groin with that very awkward non-slide

Can't have it both ways. You persist--as do we all--in saying Dalbec needs to go back to Worcester if not DFA. Now you're outraged that he might have been hurt.

One weird game thread that reeks with dislike, distrust, dismay, and disdain for the Sox, who are actually leading the Pirates 8-0 after 8 innings.

Go figure.

‘Tis why I don’t post in most game threads

Missed most of this game--dinner guests--but it did seem to me that both teams' hitters were more than happy to take strike three if the pitch wasn't near the middle of the zone.

No way, no how would I have predicted an 8-0 win (which hasn't happened yet). 12 hits, 4 freaking dingers. Go figure.

In 5 starts Bello has gone 5, 5, 5.1, 5.1, and 6 innings and given up 2, 4, 1, 2, and 0 ER's. Tonight he needed a lot of pitches to get through the first 3 innings, but sure finished strong.

Good for Bello, 6 inning , 1 hit shutout start, , hitters showed up with power. Booser makes his debut as the oldest player since 1947 to make an MLB debut at 31 years or older, except for some aliens . Very good to be over .500 in April as the starting pitching is extending its dominance and extending its depth into the 6th and beyond

Sox should play all their games on the road. About to be 8-2 on the road.

Yes, but that will lead to miniscule game threads. Talksoxers hate wins. It's much more fun to find fault, which in fact have abounded this season.

But the Sox are now 11-10 despite the absences of Story, Devers, O'Neill, Pivetta, Whitlock, et al.

And the Sox pitching continues to have the lowest ERA in MLB.

Per NESN, Sox are 2nd in MLB in HR’s.

Indeed. With 4 more they passed the 2d place Dodgers. Going in to this game, the Sox were 17th in runs scored, so they might pass a 2 or 3 in the category.

Actually, the only seriously negative comments I find here are yours. And they're directed at other posters.

Reread the very first page, which is filled with gloom and doom and predictions of errors, etc.

2d page has just 2. 3d page gets into the baserunning and third base coach issue, which continues onto page 4.

Nowhere does anyone say the Sox are now 10-9, that the beat a team with a winning record, and that the Sox pitching still has the lowest ERA in MLB.

mvp 78 did, however, tell us the Sox are 2d in MLB in dingers--a huge surprise for me.
