Not true.

In the last week, the Sox have added 180 IP from Giolito and subtracted 50IP from Sale.

That’s a net gain…

It's not guaranteed. The quantity from Giolito needs to be coupled with some quality.

The Sox have upgraded their rotation with regards to the most important ability - availability…

Giolito gave up 43 bombs last yr. I hope they are reinforcing the Green Monster in preparation

Well I do not think Montgomery is a true #1 SP so I am not sure who you are thinking of. Obviously there is another moving coming on SP but right now our rotation is arguably worse than it was a week ago.

Sale might have a higher ceiling, but I would not say our rotation got worse by flipping Sale and Gio. At least we can expect 30 starts from Gio.

Only if Gio pitches better, and Sale goes 50 or less or 100-179.

So, 2 more Pivettas and we’re all set!

Prefer 2 or 3 more pitchers capable of elite performance for 40-50IP?

Then you’re in luck. Soxprospects has already added Paxton to their 2024 projected roster! Maybe they know something!

Here’s a question to ponder now that the Red Sox have traded Sale, and saved $10M. Do you think they signed the Big G knowing they had the Sale deal in the works, and used the $10M for that, or do you think something big is going to be coming with the help with that extra $10M?

I predict Sale is going to have a mostly healthy year for the Braves, and because of that it will be a big year.

I think something bigger is coming. (It sure as hell better be.)

The early word is they plan to really take it easy on him in the regular season. They want him for the postseason.

For years, you’ve done nothing but call him Chris Frail and highlight his frequent injuries.

Now that he’s been traded, you’re all about “there’s a hole in the rotation no one can fill” and predicting healthy successes that you never predicted for him when he was in Boston and younger.

And had the Sox not traded him, we’d still be hearing about Chris Frail…

I have called Sale Frail, and always ask the question when he pitches is this a Sale Day, or a For Sale Day. All well documented, and by the way others have called him Frail Sale too.

Where has ANYONE SAID that no one can fulfill Sale’s hole in the rotation? I haven’t, but it’s once again something you are making up to fill a narrative of yours. By the way was you asleep at the wheel when Cora explained in detail why he didn’t start Sale on opening day, or was you still hung up on the banning of the shift, or wondering if JT was signed for the bench. Sale is getting a fresh start with a new good team, and I just think he will end up having a good year. If you don’t like I’m hoping, and predicting that Sale with have a healthy, and good 2024, which obviously you don’t then TDB.

Or you do know what could have been when it’s done for someone else. Look I was all for the deal, but just not the $17M payment. I’m not a Sale fan, and I said it was a big mistake the day DD gave him the extension. It’s all a big nothing made up out of nothing.

Bad luck with the Red Sox. Good luck with the Braves leads Sale to be a healthy boy. A change of scenery just might be what the doctor ordered.

Then the Sox made the right move for both them and Sale…

At that point, Bellhorn paved paradise and put up a parking lot…

In my opinion except for the $17M payment. Yes!

Less money = less return. Would you have preferred. the Braves pay Sale’s whole deal and the Sox got back David Fletcher?

You act like 50 IP for Sale is a certainty.

I do value durability and do favor Giolito over Sale, and I’ve never wanted Gio.

I also value projected skill level.

I do t want Bello and 4 Gio/pivettas.

I’ve already answered that twice. I wouldn’t have care if the Red Sox got anything back from the Braves if they would have taken all of Sales contract too. That $27M could have been used to get something better than Grissom, or better yet better pitching.

Actually it very likely couldn’t have gotten anything better than the dirt cheap 3 pre-arb years of Grissom…

That’s just pure speculation. If Bloom had gotten rid of Sale, and his contract when he had a chance the Red Sox would have been better for it.

It’s not speculation.

I think you grossly underestimate what $27mill gets you in MLB today. It wouldn’t have been enough to sign Reynaldo Lopez.

The following players signed deals under $27mill this year:

Nick Martinez, Kenta Maeda, Tyler Mahle, Frankie Montas, Jack Flaherty, Kyle Gibson.

And a slew of other less impressive names…

Watch Sale pitch 180 and Gio get hurt. that would be our luck.

That would be freakish bad luck. The opposite would be a history-based trend.

You can only act on the trend…
