If you publicly demand success, you have to follow up and work towards it. Another year of mediocrity under a new regime just causes fans to lose faith in the people ultimately in charge and ruins their narrative. And you certainly cannot say “well this was because of the last guy.” Trust me on that one. I’ve thrown out my negative yet factual picture of the end of 2019 and yet people still think Dombrowski had nothing to do with that and the Sox would be in the postseason of he was still here.

I can publicly bait people and get responses on this. Watch.

How many realize that in the 3 years since DD was hired, the Phillies have only won 11 more games than the Sox and only made the postseason one more time?

I don’t believe the Sox don’t want to compete, I certainly don’t think they would overtly state such. But in a covert manner is it plausible? Well it certainly feels they are covertly blaming Bloom for everything while publicly playing nice guy right now. So I throw nothing past this front office

Yeah, well, it's also true that the Phillies have made the postseason TWICE AS MANY TIMES as the Sox. 100% MORE! And TWICE SINCE THE LAST TIME THE SOX DID!

It's how you present your ******** that matters.

Granted. Neither of us is wrong. And you (willingly?) proved my point.

But the bottom line for most fans actually isn’t the wins and losses so much as the passion and titles and don’t want excuses. So (and I agree with you on this) if the goal was prolonged mediocrity with an eye on 2025, just keep Bloom for one more year.

I hope the change signals more than just putting a new nameplate on an office door…

Anderson Espinosa has never had any success beyond the rookie leagues. He was over hyped and overrated. The " next Pedro. " Yeah, right. More like the next Logan Allen. Let's keep lamenting letting him get away. Folks are still digging for ways to discredit Dombrowski, who has been very, very successful in his career. It is actually funny to hear some of you give him some credit, but then take a shot at him in the next breath. I have one word for you ; Scoreboard !

How do you know he was over hyped and over rated?

We all do, but believing is seeing. And there's no possible way the Sox don't upgrade the rotation -- who and when will say a lot.

22 games over 500 in 2021, which was the outlier for Bloom makes the overall record better than things really were. It didn’t cover up the two losing last in the Div teams though.

There were 45,000 screaming , beer spilling fans in Citizens Bank Park last night. Fenway was dark, except for a light in the janitor's room.

It couldn’t have been Bloom picking up trash again. Or could it?

Need any help getting that hook out of your mouth?

What were the comparative records of the Sox and Phillies when Dombrowski was in Boston and someone else was running the Phillies ? And why have the fortunes of each team turned around

Of all the arguments in the world, this is certainly one of them.

Hard to say, but I bet DD wouldn’t be still looking for that third option in the fork in the road come trade deadline.

What the heck is wrong with being able to praise and criticize someone at the same time?

Like, is Dave really this golden goose golden boy who shits gold and could never.

There is a word for people who view others like that. No one is discrediting Dave, we're just being honest. He has a reputation, a well-deserved one, but it often puts him with gigs with organizations that are already built to win and he just adds the cherry on top. He's not some special god or has some secret recipe no one else has.

He's just got bigger balls than Bloom does, doesn't make him special.

He's taken 4 teams to the World Series - that's fairly impressive. Bloom isn't even in the conversation, really.

Bloom isn’t even on the Taxi Squad.

Never an answer- just deflections.

Willingness to spend.

Dombrowski is not an idiot, but he does have an addiction to spending that has negative long term repercussions…

Are you admitting to being a troll ?

I openly said I was baiting in the post. In the sentence before the part he responded to.

One could argue your post about Citizens Bank Ballpark was closer to trolling…

Not much of an answer.

But since he was clearly unable to convince Mookie to stay, what next? Did he trade him? Or let him walk?

I will say he might have been able to extend Bogaerts after that weak ass extension, assuming Bogaerts really did only want Story money.

If he passed on Yoshida, he has $90mill to spend on pitching. As he clearly likes Taijuan Walker, let’s say he gets him in Boston.

Now does he sign Martin and Jansen? Tough call. He sort of has a rep for ignoring bullpens. But let’s say he does.

Do Bogaerts and Walker (in place of Yoshida and Story) get Boston yo the postseason?

Also Boston has no Verdugo and Wong…

I never said he was nor am I comparing. But they kind of are, because they’re the last two shows in town.

Yes, again an impressive record.

However, and this is an honest sports question to contemplate for people on every opinion. How long would it take for Dave D. To bring a World Series to Oakland????

At best that team wins an extra game or two Maybe another one if you can take away Kluber loss.

You mean like talking about Bloom’s overall record.

No, like making excuse about how he was worse than what his final record indicates, when all along you are always about just wins and losses. Any context we add is “making excuses,” so if think your comment about the 2021 record is doing a similar thing to those you criticise

REFLECTIONS! I agree! At the fork in the road. Beep, beep.

your fork in the road and 3rd fork comments were stale a year ago.

He could never do it. How about Las Vegas?

Unless they get a new owner, nobody could.

So wasn’t Blooms actions, or should I say non actions. You don’t get one with out the other.
