It used to be, but I’m not so sure that it’s not even close. People watched DD get fired after 4 winning seasons, and one year removed from a WS title, so job security, or lack of it I don’t believe is that attractive if for nothing else.

The paycheck is attractive, the job security not so much.

@JeffPassan

The Miami Marlins wanted to hire a president of baseball operations over general manager Kim Ng, leading to her departure from the organization, sources told ESPN.

When reached, Ng declined comment. But sources said she would've been the No. 2 after constructing a playoff team.

Marlins ownership is such a joke. Embarrassing.

This might be just the break the Sox needed.

Being in the hot seat not so much either.

But the experience seems to put them on the rotating carousel of MLB GMs/CBOs.

The only one to not go in to run another team is Bloom, and that could only be because it hasn’t had time to happen yet…

I thought he was joking.

You mean like I was joking when I said Bloom was a bad hire for the Red Sox the second I heard about it?

No. That one just showed your bias.

I was talking about your Marlins-Red Sox comp, and you know it.

No, that showed I was 100% right, and it was an easy call to make.

Seems to me that there are too many layers of management. I think there is most likely a lot of useless overhead in there.

The list is certainly long.

Some turned down the Red Sox last time, and some have turned the Red Sox down this time. Seems like the Marlins definitely made a better hire than their Red Sox with their last hire, so I guess we’ll have to wait, and see who makes the better hire this time.

Seems like Old Red gets a little desperate to pat himself on the back. This is shown even more with how he disappears when he looks wrong and how he twists and fictionalizes others’ words to discredit them while promoting himself…

I would be more concerned how nobody else saw Bloom as a bad hire in the beginning , and even more so after 4 years of being in Boston. It really wasn’t that hard.🙈

You think being biased and right has to be mutually exclusive of each other?

Change the subject is your MO.

Being right comes so easy for you.

At least I’m right once in awhile. Bloom being a bad hire, Kike being a bad resigning, Sale being a bad resigning, and calling for Jansen a year before they actually signed him. Like I said it wasn’t that hard.

It still is. I believe you haven't paid much attention to what is going on in Miami and how horrible of a working situation that would be. Boston isn't the greatest situation in the world, but it's a high profile job where you'd be paid more and would have better access to $$$ and a farm to deal from.

I’ll admit I haven’t paid much attention to what’s going on in Miami outside of them having a winning team this year, and making the postseason.

He could have been a great hire. The reasoning behind the hire was solid. The issue was that sometimes you don't know how well a person will perform in a new job until they actually are there. Chaim had the pedigree, but just couldn't do what needed to be done in Boston. Nothing against him, but he's not a fit in Boston. I don't think you could really learn that 100% until he's actually in the job.

You win the Pat on the Back Award.

Congrats. The vote wasn't that hard.

It's MUCH more attractive to work for the Sox. It's not even close.

That opinion is unlikely to be unanimous among prospective candidates ... perhaps not even the majority opinion.

But the Red Sox need only one.

And now the GM is leaving of her own accord, because she doesn't want to work with ownership anymore because they have too much say. This goes back to the Jeter days where he left for similar reasons. There are non-baseball people making baseball decisions there. At least Henry attempts to hire baseball people and then lets them hang themselves after 4 years and a few losing seasons. There's no way Henry would have let Ng walk out that door without an extension after getting into the playoffs. It's really embarrassing for Marlins fans right now. They aren't happy.

Why would Miami be a better job? Please provide a few baseball reasons (not weather, food, etc).

Where’s your list?

The majority of posters on here jump at the chance to pat themselves on the back. I don't know what kind of point system they think is being handed out.
