He was an unmitigated flop.

His tenure here was a complete disaster and waste. We were told he was a genius. We thought (at least me) he was Friedman 2.O. He is a bum and I have no problem accepting I was dead wrong.

You and few others out there said he was not the indicated to run this team. You were right compadre. We need an old wolf, not a hipster running this team.

Hopefully this is a new fresh and bright beginning.

you always feel bad when a guy gets fired. I was never a Bloom fan but I think he got thrown under the bus here from an owner who refused to spend. Henry WAS a great owner but now I wish he'd sell the team. Time for new blood all around.

At what point do we need to worry about the Red Sox not being desirable for GM’s and potential CBO’s. Since Epstein it’s felt like FSG doesn’t provide them any job security, even if you seemingly do what was asked of you

4 years isn't enough job security??? WTF? People online are wild.

@redsoxstats

Incredibly pathetic, shameful s***

@SavageSports_

Set up to fail. Embarrassing from the ownership group.

@LocksBerry

We have no direction now

@Benson_Elliot

He was put in an impossible situation. No farm system, forced to trade Mookie, and a front office that refused to spend money

@ColeyMick

Can’t believe he didn’t stack rings under these circumstances. Unfathomable to this man

@fpsFoley

It’s insane that Chaim is getting blamed for the team’s results when ownership hogtied him and threw him in the pool and got mad when he couldn’t swim

@cclowes3

He got fired for doing the exact job he was hired to do

LOL. Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive or dress themselves. Truly psychotic posting. I rooted for Chaim to succeed because I wanted the Sox to succeed. It was clear that he couldn't build a rotation. Are people fans of the Red Sox or fans of the CBO? Wild...

There is a lot silly here - Bloom deserves to be held accountable. That said, ownership has been weird and shifty with its priorities.

I happen to believe that Henry always hired Bloom to be a transitional figure. Henry used Bloom as his scapegoat to slim down the Red Sox. Bloom was always hired to be fired.

Henry's main focus is the expansion of FSG. He wanted to limit.the Red Sox long term financial exposure so he could attract additional investors which he has done. Henry's real intention is an additional major sports franchise. He lost out on an NFL franchise but is still committed to acquiring an NBA one. I think he realizes he.now must reinvigorate the Red Sox because he efforts to expand his portfolio in 2019 to 2023 have not turned out as planned. Once the Sox are again a contender he will turn his attention to non MLB.ventures.

For those who believe that Henry is concerned about Red Sox day to day operations, I believe he could not name off the top of his head half of the 40 man roster any more than he could half of the Liverpool team or the Penguins roster.

No kudos are in order for John Henry from me/

My guess this firing before the offseason, is a sign he is accepting he gave the job to the wrong guy.

Per Carrabis:

Chaim had a deal to trade Sale’s contract for prospects, but he passed because he didn’t like the prospects.

What the f***…..

Seems like some of both.

One thing the next hire knows well in advance: "We don't want no f**king five year plan!"

Posted
His problem was he was paralyzed by analysis again. He never dealt away prospects and watched some turn into turds.

I'll always believe his biggest problem was his inattention to the rotation.

It's stunning to think that Bloom will be leaving having never signed a single starting pitcher for more than a $10 million contract.

Will the new GM want his opportunity to pick a new manager?

Who knows? Dombrowski stayed with Farrell for 2 years. Bloom re-hired the guy DD hired. People assume the new CBO wants his own manager, but it varies from one case to another.

I.never thought Bloom.had that opportunity despite what ownership said. There was a lot of talk in Boston that Bloom and Cora had an uneasy relationship

You have to take these stories with a huge grain of salt, the vultures tend to come out when men are at their lowest.

I’m often reminded of the scene in the movie Wall Street when Bud Fox is being taken away after being arrested and his boss says “I always knew there was something bad about him” after earlier in the movie saying the exact opposite.

I do have to say, if half these reports about GMs refusing to deal with Bloom are true and him not being respected then I’m pissed he wasn’t fired sooner.

I also feel less good about Henry too. Whether or not Bloom was the problem Henry has something to prove.

And yesterday you said Henry wasn't paying much attention to what Bloom was doing. You have a vivid imagination.

Now you are reduced to the retorts of a 6 year old

You used to be able to do better than that

How disappointing!

Next time, I guess I'll have to walk you through it step by step.

It fits into the projection narrative.

So much for others doing the "name-calling."

This would be a fireable offense, in my book, if true.

Unless the prospects were trash.

I'd have traded Sale with low prospects for a bag of used baseballs.

The salary dump would have been worth it, assuming we'd spend it in 2024.

No contradiction. Henry is not involved in day to day operations of any of his enterprises.

He was always going to fire Bloom once payroll was down. He wanted payroll down so he could attract investors for FSGs expansion which is where Henry's real interests lay.

He tried to sell Liverpool but that did not work out the way he wanted. He was unable to make the deal he wanted with Arab investors for the soccer club.

He then sold 10 per cent of FSG for 650.million. Why did he do that? It was not to spend it on starting pitching but to acquire financial assets outside of MLB.

It is not imagination it is called analysis and strategic planning.

Disagree if you want but this is what my reading has led me to conclude

I have learned to discount your opinion on anything so feel free to discount mine.
