If John Henry is not very disappointed with the last two seasons , then he is completely out of touch with millions of Red Sox fans.

He probably is. Bloom too.

All of these uber rich are out of touch with millions of Red Sox fans and that includes lots of players.

1:15 to 1:45 is your entrance music.

His TikToks were fine before he started doing music. I'm avoiding the 90's dance stuff.

Bloom blew the trade deadline two years in a row. He should have sold off last year and this year. He could have gotten some useful prospects both years. Instead, he hung on to guys and Sox didn't win anyway. Paxton is a prime example. He could have sold high on him. Now, he is useless. Fire Chaim. The Sox need to clean house and fix the roster. They can't win with 6 DH types. The defense is horrendous. The base running is horrible. The situational hitting is terrible.

OK. RS need better defense, base-running and 'situational hitting'. I don't think anyone here or in RS organization disagrees. That's the easy part. Now: exactly which available players do you wish to get who will do that and how will you get them? And which players will you get rid of because they are thought not to be doing that?

Baserunning should get better by just having an infusion of younger talent. Getting rid of Verdugo may help in that regard too.

Situational hitting is more of an organizational philosophy than a player acquisition issue IMO.

John Henry's primary focus is expanding the Fenway Sports Group's portfolio. How the Red Sox are doing as an individual entity in the group is only material in how that affects his goal of FSG expansion.

When were you chatting with him last?

Personally I have no doubt he's very disappointed with the 2022 and 2023 W-L records. And when that starts to show up in lower ticket sales as it did yesterday, that magnifies the disappointment.

Well, disappointment is relative to expectations. What were his expectations with Bloom running the team?

If Henry was fine with a long game to build the farm and make a competitive team like Houston has done, he might have expected years like this and figures then to be part of the process.

That doesn’t make it easier on us, but it certainly explains a lot of Bloom isn’t fired..

Oh good. John Henry sent us a spokesman…

Have you not been following FSG recent acquisitions?

They bought some golf stuff.

The kind of thing every sports managing and marketing business does…

They have done far more than that

He hired Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in an effort to sell Liverpool after the collapse of his super league idea and ensuing backlash. Then he attempted to secure other investors primarily from the Middle East

He thensold part of FSG for a reported 650 million. according to published news accounts to raise capital to try and buy the Washington Commanders which obviously did not happen. He got LeBron James as an investor with the announced intention of securing an NBA franchise. He also has acquired another sports TV network effective in October besides his golfing venture in June. I would say his activities strongly suggest that his main focus is not what Chaim Bloom is doing.

Guys like JH can only focus on one thing. That's how he got so rich!

He must be superhuman to do all that all by himself!!

They have 6 DH types? News to me. Defense definitely needs to improve though.

Turner, Yoshida, Devers, Casas, Valdez.

That is 5 guys whose best position would be DH.

Valdez’ best position might be in Worcester…

Duran is an adequate OF now.

LF, barely, and it helps that Fenway can hide that to a higher extent, but he's still not really a plus on D, to me.

He may be, if he keeps improving. He really sucked just a year and a half ago.

If Refsnyder is your DH, you did some bad GMing…

Not much value in the short end of a DH platoon, but they guy does hit LHPs, pretty damn well.

His sample size is rather small, but the rumblings about his bad D appear to be spot on.

The .709 OPS in 127 PAs needs a lot of improvement to offset that bad D, but I'm not sure we can write him off, just yet.

It's a small sample size but his splits are spot on with his "platoon projection"

.258 OPS VS. LHP

.756 OPS VS. RHP

Given his subpar D, you'd expect a little bit more from the left side but I think he can improve upon that.

That can be a nice player to have depending on your roster, you can only put 26 guys on there so his profile could add a lot of value to a team....or not.

It's weird because Abreu fits a similar profile in the outfield, actually, I think he and REF would make a nice platoon. But you can only have so many platoon guys on your roster. I'd like some of those spots to be guys who have positional versatility and plus defense. I don't think both can fit into Boston's future plans.

Trade bait or DFA IMO. Not much left on that bone.

He’s a role player with one legitimate baseball skill. He’s still under contract for next year and his limited skilllset doesn’t exactly scream trade bait…
