Remember everyone, when a player doesn't perform it's always someone else's fault!

Well, in this very specific issue, I think we all know (except Cora) Pivetta is not a very good pitcher going deep in games. Heck, he gave us 5 solid innings, but after the HBP you have to know he will likely start to suck because again, he is not a very good pitcher.

What a horrible at bat by Verdugo, swinging at the first pitch after the guy walked three in a row.

Seems nobody in the dugout told him. Do not f***ing swing at the first pitch, regardless the pitch.

he hit into the dp?

Do the players ever get the blame, or should we give them all participation trophies?

lol!

For instance, as a Yankee fan, would you have removed Holmes here?

They had a guy in the bullpen desperately trying to warm up, but he couldn't in time even though there were numerous visits to the mound and other stalling tactics. You're darn right they wanted to replace Holmes.

As illinoisox pointed out, Cora had exactly 2 pitches in which to warm up a reliever for Pivetta after he hit the leadoff batter in the 6th with his first pitch. The next guy singled on an 0-1 pitch.

Your scenario for getting Pivetta out of the game is completely untenable.

Man you can always make time one way or another. That's a terrible excuse.

Give it up max, he will never acknowledge that someone else might have a valid point.

You know what I don’t understand? Why iortiz is posting here instead of managing a major league team.

I’m still blaming OB for mentioning the Yankees were having trouble scoring runs.

That hurt.

Big second game only in terms of staying ahead of the Yankees, or not. A win, and you stay 2 games ahead, but a loss, and you’re tied for 4th, or 5th , and back to 500 they go.

Naahhh a mediocre coach with basic common sense would have removed Pivetta in that situation.

But completely in tune with the Sox dilemma all season long. Their pitching stinks, so they need to score runs to win. Out of 73 wins, just 12 happened when the Sox scored fewer than 5 runs. Today they scored just 2 runs.

And let's not forget that in fact the Sox were freaking hitless in the 9th inning.

Wonder whether finishing in the last place (again) and under 500, are Cora and Bloom very gone?

So someone with something you sorely lack?

Ahem. We saw the Yankees face exactly the same situation in the 9th when they desperately wanted to replace Holmes, but couldn't get someone ready while he was walking three Sox players.

You keep claiming the issue was "common sense" but ignore the reality that after the HBP of the Yankees' leadoff batter in the 6th, Cora had just two pitches by Pivetta in which to warm up a reliever.

The facts are that the reliever got in there as soon as it was feasible.

I would have put someone to warm up after the 4th inning actually, but again, you keep saying that Cora didn't have time.

Thats a cop-out, nice try though.

Ahhh, the tiburons are loose in the water and beginning to turn on each other in a cannabilistic feeding frenzy over a team , manager , FO, owner who have all underperformed this year. Finishing about .500 and battling for the cellar slot is not what this team should be about, but the last few years it is the reality.

That is what should be of concern, not who relieved the LOSING pitcher.

Oh, this is only a very little sample of the sum of the decision-makings made by this terrible management —in and out the field.

Yeah, Bloom and Cora have to go. JH should go as well but I don't see it happening

Well said, and as I said earlier in this thread it should be an embarrassment from JH, and the rest of baseball ops right down to Cora, and the players.
