It's always good to have some insight that's based on actual real life experience.

My friend used to live at a former superfund site in Oakland. His "apartment" was about 5,000 square feet and included things like a recording studio, stage, rope swing and there were about 10-20 other apartments in that complex. The people there were cool. One of the guys was a former surfer from South Africa who had been bitten by a Great White.

But it’s also fun to pick on Oakland…

The stadium was cool 25 years ago when you could still bring a cooler in and it wasn't completely run down. It was still one of the worst facilities in the league at the time, but fun for fans.

Oakland, like many major cities, has a serious problem with poverty, crime, drug addiction , neglect and homelessness. In my opinion, this should be at or near the top of our national priorities. Sadly, it is not. Instead, we pretend that it is not a big and ever growing problem. But ignoring it or denying it exists does absolutely nothing to help matters. That is all I have on this subject. Not going to get into any political stuff. But we really should deal with reality in these things. Cities like Oakland need a lot of attention and help.

I agree, but there is a lot of rural poverty, crime, drug addiction and high drop out rates, too.

This poster has tentative plans to watch the reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers play a scheduled (!) doubleheader in Oakland this May. The second game may be skipped.

The same 12-day trip tentatively includes three San Francisco Giant games, one Cal baseball game and one University of San Francisco baseball game.

Plus commencement ceremonies for two daughters.

all 250 of them.

They averaged 26-27k in the early 2000's when they were good. It tapered off to what it is now due to lack of interest from ownership. Can't say I blame the fans.

I'd give him $2M, so that should win the bidding.

The bigger deal with Bauer is that he hasn’t pitched in MLB since 2021. Yes, he’sa PR nightmare that teams have been avoiding. But we also don’t know how he pitches any more as well.

Maybe MLB. teams actually aren’t avoiding the controversy; maybe he just isn’t as good any more…

Is there a place that compiles velo data from Japan?

Not that I know of.

Maybe I should start Japangraphs…

Then I'll finally be able to understand all the nuances of the Central, Eastern, Western and Pacific Leagues. Sad that the Northern League was destroyed by King Ghidorah.

Worth pointing out that didn’t mean anyone has made an offer…

Agreed, but when you know a few teams are talking to him, offering min. wage is not the best strategy to make sure you get him.

Or an MLB offer at least.

I wasn’t counting anyone who offered a Bauer an opportunity to go f*** himself as making a legitimate offer…

Minimum wage with a clear opportunity to start should be good enough on a one year prove it deal for him. For him to get that in Boston would be money in the bank.

That all depends on how well you read Japanese…
