they are all slow torture but this is the worst I can remember and with Snell and Montgomery both being Bora$$ clients it is going to go a while longer yet. I really doubt the Sox are in on either so I could really care less at this point. I just check MLBTR every day to catch up on all the M/L signings [NOT]

I'd be shocked, if we sign Snell. Slightly shocked, if we sign Monty.

No Matt Chapman. (Sorry notin, but you knew that.)

I have zero expectations, but I'm holding out hope for Imanaga.

Stroman might work out, okay, but I'm not high on him or anyone else. Duvall or Teoscar might be signed, but I'm not high on them, either.

A big trade is probably the best hope for a major improvement to the MLB team, but I've all but lost hope on that happening.

What if... this is also Breslow's way of clearing out some of the more unsavory characters that defined the Bloom Era? Wiping the slate clean, blowing dead leaves into the suck truck, making room for new growth.

After Verdugo's issues with Cora last summer, along with his impending free agency, it was clear he had to go. Coincidentally, Dugie was also the centerpiece in the worst trade in Red Sox history... Chaim Bloom's first big move as CBO.

Sale was extended by Dombrowski, but there's also no doubt he was a polarizing figure of the entire Bloom Era -- an erstwhile ace holding up team stability month after month, season after season, by his multitude of aches and pains -- which made even every offseason an ughfest for year-round fans trying to anticipate any semblance of a starting rotation.

Time to move on.

Yes. Trading Verdugo was a gift to Cora. Lack of hustle and showing up late isn't great for overall morale. Verdugo was very quick to show his stripes when he through Cora under the bus after being traded. Trading Sale and signing Giolito should help provide the rotation more guaranteed innings. How can you build a rotation around Sale if you expect him to miss 10 starts?

I would not mind seeing us take a flyer on ryu

I agree depending on the money. He is solid when healthy. Wonder what his medicals look like?

I need them to "be in" on Stroman for about a week just for the reaction from certain posters on here.

They probably still need to grab Teoscar and a starter better than Giolito.

You haven’t been able to build a rotation around Sale since 2018-2019, but the Red Sox have tried. Yes Gio will provide innings, but what kind. Yes getting rid of Dugy was the right thing to do, but I still think he’ll have a big year this year, and come back to haute Red Sox.

Giolito is not a guy that anything is being built around either. Like you said, we might only have him for 4 months.

Doesn't matter if he Verdugo has a big year. His stats in Yankee Stadium 3 have nothing to do with what he'd do here. It means nothing. I'm sure some people will try to make it into something, but it's meaningless. He's a guy who was content to play for 3 last place Sox teams and show up late. He's a loser.

We don't know how well Giolito will pitch, but there's near certainty that he can take the ball every 5th day. Bailey did a great job in SF, so we need to have a little faith that Giolito can improve on his '23 stats or at least replicate his first half stats.

He's a mid rotation guy. Sale was the leader. It's not really a like kind exchange. I think they still need someone to lead the staff.

They seriously do.

Some as in many ones... unless they're waiting until they're good before they spend money on good players.

If Gio is only with the Red Sox for 4 months that’s not a good sign of what’s happening with the Sox again. Of course if it’s longer it might be no one else wants him. Like he said himself other clubs were not lined up outside his door waiting to sign him.

Good to know that you'll have reason to complain no matter what.

I'm so desperate for encouraging news or rumors that I've been checking out the SOSH forum. They seem to think the Sox are a good bet to sign Imanaga.

Complain no matter what? That’s all you guys have been doing for the most part this offseason especially before the Gio signing, and Sale trade when I’ve been patient, snd said let’s wait, and see what the club looks like on March 28. All Your complaints have been loud and long. Add em up.

I'm kinda hoping for a Cease trade just so I can watch the forum fireworks when someone points out how .500 the WHITE Sox were, with Cease and Giolito as their #1 and #2, sometimes throwing to Reese McGuire.

"This is the only place in the world that ever vaguely supported Bloom!"

I'm getting them out of the way so that I can root them on to go 162-0.

88 tOPS+ at Fenway!

54 tOPS+ caught by McGuire!!!

2023 CHW:

29th Batting fWAR

29th in DRS

4 of their top 6 SP's are no longer in the org: Giolito, Clevinger, Lynn, Urena.

That team is going to be a dumpster fire this year. Maybe even worse than the A's.

The Imanaga links have never gone away. They seem likely to be in on him.

That Urena made the top six pitchers speaks volumes…

Do you see Teoscar as being an upgrade from Duvall, especially if we are thinking RF (or maybe CF?)

I've been kinda high on Imanaga, or maybe more than most. I see him and Stroman as about an even risk.

Hard to know.

If you told me in mid December, we'd be adding Imanaga, Giolito, Teoscar and O'Neill, I would not have been happy.

Now, with my hopes being lowered, it might be the best we can hope for. I'm trying to not use the word "expect."
