Like I said look it up if you really want to know by Jeff Passan July 2020. What did you really want the answer to be on why Mookie signed with the Dodgers, and in the big scheme of things what does it really matter to you?.

You clearly missed the whole convo. Otherwise you’d realize you’re supporting my point.

It was proposed that Mookie would not sign an extension prior to free agency and give up money. Problem with that argument is, he did. No one really knows that full story, but the one from the quote you gave also applied to Boston.

There are other possibilities but the whole “focus on winning” is a complete BS press answer. Just like it is when every other free agent gives it.

I personally think that Boston could have extended him if they didn’t wait 5 years…

??? I tend not to distrust factual claims that require extensive use of the subjunctive.

Not to distrust? So basically, you believe in what you wish for…

Tony Massarotti offers his opinion on the Red Sox offseason:

You got mad when he said that they were out on Yamamoto and wouldn't spend on the Monty/Snell tier either. Now all the reports are saying that's the case.

He's consistently s*** on the Sox for years whether they are good or bad. I don't give a rat's ass what the reports are saying now, he's a hack.

I was just thinking about this the other day.

Remember when people use to always complain about players, coaches, prospects, trades, contracts and all that when this team was good and winning 95-100+ games a year?

I certainly do. It just goes to show that some people will always express their fanship from the front of seeing the bad. I suppose they at least have good reason now. Perhaps very good reason.

Like I've said before, Felger & Mazz version of Mazz is the bad version. When you get him away from that gimmick, he is a decent baseball guy.

I haven’t paid any attention recently, but that certainly has not always been the case…

His quality is much higher on his own baseball show. He'd be goddamn awful at 5:59, then at 6:01 he'd be good after Felgie left. His voice was 10% less annoying too.

I heard that the Sox are looking to trade Trevor Story. Think they can pull it off without eating salary? If so, who plays SS? It would have to be an acquisition.

The obvious get is Franco.

Not Wander -- Sox are too budget-conscious to post bail... but Julio! He's only 65, and the only problem is he might be still playing under contract in Asia or Eastern Europe...

... though Julio would be an ideal reclamation project, if Brez could bring him back to the states. Be advised there will be a rehab stint, as he regains land legs running on flat ground, and stretches his arm out aiming rocks at street lamps. Should be ready to return right after the trade deadline -- by which time he'll be better than any other retiree they could deal for.

Reagan was president the last time Franco played SS. He'd probably have to play 3B and you slide Devers over who has a career 0 DRS at SS. Not great, but not Kiké bad either!

So you’re saying his rested and eager?

We don't know how eager he is! We know that he'd show up to ST looking like one of the puppets from Genesis' Land of Confusion.

Now MVP has me intrigued moving Raffy to shortstop. Does anybody remember in the days of the shift how he got to really show off his canon deep in the hole?

On another note, does anyone remember in the days of the shift Devers ever diving for a ball up the middle and deflecting it away from the real shortstop, who was trying to backtrack from the second base side? Me, neither.

Maybe all the assumptions about someday moving Big Puppy to first base would only reflect a waste of talent -- his, not the speculators (our fingers be blogging in with passwords that cannot be confirmed).

Up next on the DFA list:

Weiss

Jacques

Castillo

Criswell

Walter

Hamilton

Looks about right. We may also try to trade someone to make room for the next FA, assuming there is one.

Trading out-of-options Mata makes sense, but the return may be near nothing.

Slaten may be returned via Rule 5 rules, but we will wait until at least ST to decide on him.

Bobby Dee might be on the list, too, but near the bottom, I suppose.
