Just got to the computer and am amazed at the Boston breakout on the Astros. This series seems to be good evidence for the argument that the Sox could be a playoff team or a last place AL East team. Thankfully , the Yankees have taken the latter out of the question.

Seems like he just needed fresh air.

He only played in 20 games for Milwaukee this year; anyone can have a bad 20 games. He hit 23 homers for the Brew Crew in 2021 and followed that up with 16 last year.

He’s never going yo be a high average hitter, but he’s better than the .150 whatever it was in Milwaukee this season.

f***ing Bello. Walking people with a 11-0 lead. Geez!

Your d-money impression needs work. I don’t recall him using profanity.

All things considered, you gotta be happy splitting a 4 game set with Houston.

Of course I went to two games in Houston and go to see those first two games that were a s*** show lol

The team showed a lot of heart by taking the last two games of this series. I am very impressed with them.

Here’s a question at the moment. To keep Abreu in the lineup who do you sit?

Casas

Dugy

Yoshida

Cora will probably rotate them.

I think Dugy has started to hit better since he got put back at leadoff, and Duvall has started to get hot again, so it will be interesting on a nightly basis.

Abreu is a good player, but not better than the guys you listed. He’s in the rotation for next year as I have suggested the past few weeks, but that still is depending on Verdugo being traded. He’s a LHB, so there’s no platoon with Masa, Duran or Verdugo. He’s behind those three.

His defense is on par or better than Verdugo’s. I’m unsure how well his bat can play long term, but he has pop and knows how to take a walk.

Duran LF

Rafaela CF

Abreu RF

That’s an athletic and dynamic OF. Refsnyder can sub for LHP (if he learns to hit again).

Abreu is the shiny object at the moment, and Cora likes shiny objects, so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles this. Looking forward I’m not sold on Duran yet.

Trivia question: has a position player pitcher ever been removed and replaced by another position player pitcher?

I’m positive I’ve see it. Not mid-inning, however.

But if you like position player pitching trivia

Former Marlin Jon Mabry pitched one game in 2005 and was so bad he was relieved by RHP Vic Darensbourg. So he got relieved by a pitcher.

Back in 2000, former Rockie catcher Brett Mayne came into the game as a pitcher - and earned a win!!!
