Our catching tandem has been pretty impressive, this year.

Certainly one bright spot among the swirling doom and gloom.

Defensively yes

As always, take the 4-3 win but then review how the Sox got to 4. The slump is not over yet. Absent a catcher's interference, they might be going to 10. Struggling against a weak team

When it comes to the SOX BP, I will take a check from Martin, but everyone else pays cash.

Well said.

Pay Pal with Wink is fine.

3 runs came on KC errors. They got gifted this game

It would be great if Singer and Song were pitching against each other in a future game.

Can Philly prospect Marcus Sang get in that game?

I was at the game tonight with my nephew. We’re now 7-0 this year when I attend. Maybe if I go to every game we have left, we might be able to sneak into the playoffs

They should pay you.

Team Catcher OPS is pretty close to the past ones...

2023: .672

2022: .694

2021: .684

None of those numbers are exactly stellar. We don’t need our catchers to hit as long as there isn’t more than one other black hole out there.

I will be at Yankee Stadium next Saturday with a friend, and then I am going to one of the games in the Astros series at the end of the month. Unfortunately, I will be out of town when the Dodgers are here. I will actually be in Baltimore and plan on going to Camden Yards while I am there.

Meh. Agree they are far from perfect, but they've carried a heavy load since Kluber, Sale, Houck, Whitlock, and Pivetta dropped out of the rotation. Pivetta is back in the rotation and before that he came in early after a reliever pitched the first inning or two, but his IP's over his last 20 games have been 5, 4, 7.1, 5, 1, 6, 5, 4, 3.1, 0.1, 3, 0.2, 1, 0.2, 0.2, 1, 1, 3, 3, and 2.1.

Or put it this way. Bello leads the Sox in innings pitched with 108.2, which puts him tied for 74th place in MLB.

Given the above--a decimated rotation--I think Cora has done a good job of not over using his best relievers (which has now and then caused consternation on talksox).

In addition to Martin (WAR 2.2), I kind of like Winckowski (1.4), Bernardino (1.4), Jansen (1.1), and Schreiber (.6). Due back this weekend is Whitlock (.3) and soon thereafter Houck (.8), both of whom seem headed to the bullpen because Sale is due back tomorrow to fill the 5th starter slot. Throw in Murphy (.6) and that's a pretty decent bullpen and rotation (Bello 3.2, Crawford 1.9, Paxton 1.9, Pivetta 1.6, and Sale 1.0).

We are lucky Crawford has done a better job starting than Houck and Whitlock, but yes, adding Houck and Whitlock should be a big plus, especially when you consider they will be ousting Llovera and Barraclough from the 26.

Kutter being better than Houck or Whitlock is really only by a razor thin margin. He was much better pitching out of the pen.
