Is Urias a big upgrade over Arroyo?

He could be. He was very good in 21-22. Better than Arroyo ever was. He got injured on Opening Day and was limited for a long time. His July numbers in AAA looked good. We’ll see how it works out.

he took too long on that groundout last night

Indeed, his numbers from 2021 to 2022 were pretty impressive:

Very good D.

A decent .340 OBP.

A better than average 2B OPS of .766.

24 HRs and 50 xbhs per 650 PAs is pretty damn good.

Bloom made a trade that should help us, now and through 2 more arb years. He gave up a decent pitching prospect from the lower levels of the farm.

It may work: it may not. I'm thinking it looks pretty good.

To me the question is - why Arroyo over Reyes?

Because Bloom has had hopes for Arroyo for several years. Those hopes have finally been extinguished.

Even so, Arroyo has been worse than Reyes? Or does Reyes still have an option left?

So you're asking why was Arroyo DFAd instead of Reyes. Which would make my answer null and void.

Exactly what I am asking…

Null plays all over the infield, but has never been healthy enough to be regular. Void is more versatile, and can also play outfield... but not good enough to stick in the Show.

By the end of the month there's also a chance they could add Nada and Zilch, once they pass through waivers.

True. Reyes has an expiration date himself, tied to Story’s return. Unless the Sox send Urias back to Worcester at that time..

They may just demote Urias, if they like Reyes that much.

For Story to get activated, somebody has to be moved off the 40 man roster. Hard to believe they’ll keep all of:

Story

Valdez

Hamilton

Reyes

Urias

Chang

Doesn't seem like there's much purpose to keeping Hamilton.

Haven’t they needed all those guys this year, and Story is not a sure thing either.

He had his 34 plate appearances and failed to dazzle.

Reyes is more likely. DFAing Hamilton still means demoting a player with options. Who did that leave? Urias? Duran?

Oh the Sox have needed Chang. Mostly when he was on the Injured List…

I'd dump Reyes. He'd probably pass through waivers the way Arroyo did.

Kike is 11-33 since leaving Boston with 6 RBI. Way to go Kike!

How about that? The first guy on the “Ship Kike Out of Town” bandwagon is also the first guy to comment on his stellar performance since he was traded…
