Ok now a few more deals that didn’t get coverage will trickle in over the next 30 minutes or so, as folks learn they happened.

But overall, this was a massive flop for Bloom. Since any blockbuster involving, say, Dylan Cease, would have netted at least some ink.

His overall grade today, I’ll give a generous Z-, as I slide past conventional grading and slip deep into sarcasm…

He hits like a pitcher

You’re just saying that because of his .468 OPS this year. But remember, he can platoon here and against RHP, it’s a robust .501 OPS!

If he teams with Chang, they might hit a combined .300 LOl

Although I will say both are very talented defenders…

Prices are always higher now than in the offseason!

I think Hang’em Chaim sees more value in the players coming off the injury list than in players he could have acquired, but at a huge cost!

Bloom did exactly what I expected him to do today. For all purposes he was done when he traded Kike Hernandez. With all the players coming back, he really was under no pressure to do anything.

Given the schedule which is favorable the Sox have a reasonable chance of making the playoffs and keeping the fans interested until mid September at least. That may not make the more rabid fans happy but it should be enough to keep John Henry from making a change. Although with John Henry he could just as easily fire Bloom because he does not like the way he combs his hair.

Luis Urias hitting .145. That’s going to make a huge difference!!!! I hope they didn’t give anything more than a bag of balls for this clown. They should’ve just done nothing if this is all they were going to do.

They gave up Bradley Blalock, who, as far as I can tell, is an NPC…

A healthy Luis Arias could be a great asset.

Urias hasn’t lived up to his prospect hype.

And more important, cannot pitch…

I was all for trading to get better, but I’d rather have kept Blalock

Urias isn’t horrible. He’s barely played this year for whatever reason.

But he’s just so redundant. The Sox already have a few RHH part time middle infielders manning 2b. Either a full time starting 2b, or a LHH part time 2b to platoon.

It basically took all day to get another Christian Arroyo…

Urias is still just 26, this could be a steal. And if not then he’s an upgrade on the bench for effectively nothing.

At least I think he’s 26. Someone will call me out if I’m wrong

this trade will guarantee a playoff spot. and I just cant stand this guy or John Henry anymore.

He's got 2 more years of team control. That's one more than Arroyo.

He's a plus defender with a .720 career OPS in just over 1500 PAs. (.720 is not bad for 2B. Arroyo is .695. and .719 since 2020, Chang is .624 and Reyes is .670.)

He's likely better than DHam and EValdez.

He might be better than Reyes and Chang, so maybe my initial read was off base.

He also has a career OPS+ of 98, which is just below the average major leaguer's 100. His stats this season are based on only 55 AB's.

If they wanted a pitching Arias, it would have required obtaining Julio.

His name is also Urías.

Cleveland’s Gabriel is the only pitcher named “Arias”..

If I recall well Urias has a great glove and if healthy it is going to be a steal. His glove is way better than Devers, but again who isn’t?

When are all the Sox pitchers due back?

Honestly, if we get to the point of everyone not named Kluber being healthy, a rotation of Sale, Paxton, Bello, Crawford and Houck doesn’t look too bad. And a bullpen of Jansen, Martin, Whitlock, Schreiber, Pivetta, Winckowski, Bernardino and Bleier looks even better…

so you are going to play him ahead of Devers after signing him to a 330 million dollar deal?
