Ist base is open, the Jays' most dangerous hitter is up. It's managing 101.

It's also putting the winning run on base. With the bases loaded it only takes a double to score 3 runs and win the game for the Jays.

Managing 101 is what you missed, not Cora. Also the rest of the idiots who make these silly comments on game threads about how superior their knowledge is to Cora's.

Thrilla from manila (suburb of Toronto) tonight. Some huge hits and some good plays by the Sox, especially by Verdugo in the 9th. Some good pitching by Crawford, and some not so great pitching by Winck and Jansen.

My bad. I keep forgetting that Cora is a managerial genius. Glad you're here to keep reminding me.

As opposed to the rest of the idiots who think Cora is always right.

Butch and Kerrigan were close. Kerrigan was clearly loathed by the players…

I haven’t been a fan of Cora for much of the past two years, but that decision about walking Guerrero there is not so simple, and I’ve seen MLB managers handle similar situations both ways, and with mixed results.

I walk Guerrero there. I prefer (with that Sox infield) taking the bat out of his hands and taking my chances with the lesser (but red hot) Chapman. I also don’t have much faith in the Sox offense taking advantage of extra innings. A tie might just equate to a loss here.

But I agree about the winning run on base. That particular one was a tough call IMO with the names involved…

Clell had much the longest tenure of the three.

Probably why he is my go to for insufferable Sox managers…

The Even Stevens are 3-3 in extra inning games with 29 runs scored and 29 runs allowed. :D

My worry in the Bloom Era for loading the bases intentionally is that a reliever will walk in a run.

As the score was 7-5, that leeway was built into the situation…

And at 42-42, the definition of averageness is achieved .
