Seriously?

The guy is 23 years old with 240 career PA. A year ago, older players like Duran and Winckowski were labeled on this board as “not Major League material.” And yet now both have suddenly become major contributors…

I didn't say it was a done deal. I simply stated what I've seen to this point. I also said that patience is a virtue.

Same applies to Mookie.

Gosh. These guys were great as RS. I loved watching them (although maybe your face was too buried in stats to do that).

Maybe I'm not a "true" fan. But I never want players I've been following and who have given me, as a spectator so much fun, to fail. And why you guys revel in that is really beyond me.

Not reveling. Just stating what I believe is true. Your 'truth' may differ.

Yeah, but your post lead to another conclusion.

I have no how good or bad Casas will be, like all of us. But I do know that his sub-.200 batting average will mean absolutely nothing in 3 years…

I'm a SOX fan, so, obviously, I want Casas to succeed. Just like I'd hoped Dalbec would be successful. So let's agree to agree.

Who knows how Casas will turn out. He could turn out to be a Bobby D like, or he could turn out to be a Rizzo type. I’ve been saying for some time now that he needs to swing the bat more, and look for a hit 1st, and not a walk. It’s good to have a good eye at the plate, but his eye isn’t as good as he thinks it is. He definitely shouldn’t be batting third, and maybe needs more time In Worcester.

Defintely not giving up on a #1 draft pick who is still getting his feet wet in the majors. He hit in the minors and for Team USA. He just turned 23 in January. The great Mike Schmidt hit .196 his rookie year and we know how he turned out. Casas has a good eye at the plate, much more so than someone like Dalbec. Sox fans need to give him some time. I agree, he shouldn't be hitting third.

I am ready to say goodbye to Kluber , who is a major drain on this team

Cora has already confirmed that Kluber will make his next scheduled start next Sunday.

I was pretty mad at Kluber today too.

But consider the following. In their last 14 games the San Diego Padres are 3-11, which is pretty bad. The winning pitcher all three times was Wacha, and in those three wins/games he gave up a total of 1 run.

So, me, I'm thinking: boy, I'm glad Sale, Paxton, or Bloom wasn't starting because our chances of winning this game were pretty slim.

We should have signed Wacha over Kluber. He even had a lower AAV![

But still, I think...

Yoshida- good

Duvall- probably good

Jansen- Good

Martin- good

Kluber- bad

Having attended all 3 games in SD this weekend, and planning on the same in Anaheim this coming few days, I can clearly say that my observations of many of the individual players mentioned in this thread match the other commenters.

He’s awful, and he has been over the hill for at least 3 or 4 seasons.

He hasn't been able to "reinvent" himself from the glory days that ended in 2018.

He only started 8 games in 2019-2020.

From 2021-2022, he showed a little hope of getting to be okay, but maybe age caught up, at that point. 4.17 ERA in 47 GS, including 31 in 2022.

In 2023:

8.50 ERA first 4 games (7.40 FIP in 18 IP)

4.56 ERA last 5 games (6.00 FIP in 24 IP)

We are still looking for our 4 and 5 starters.

We're also looking for a starter who does well pitching to McGuire, AKA Nobody's Binky.
