Ryan, RHP vs. Kluber, RHP--another mismatch vs. the Twins (lowest team ERA in MLB)

Sale definitely delivered the goods last night: 6 IP, 1 ER, 11 K's, 2 BB's. Plus no errors by Sox defense.

The game was decided in a very weird 10th inning in which the Twins scored 2 runs on no hits (a BB and an HBP by Schreiber) and the Sox 3 runs on a 3d strike WP Vazquez didn't block, a catcher interference by Vazquez, 2 singles by McGuire and Duran, a GIDP by Refsnyder (heady play by Twins 3d baseman), and game-winning single/double by Verdugo which got challenged but was upheld.

Attendance was 28,132, well down from LA Angels (Ohtani and Trout) series which averaged 36,000.

Heres a FACT. The Twins pitching coach was the biggest Red Sox fan on earth growing up.

When they announced his name on tv last night when he walked out to the mound it caught my ear and I thought "that looks just like the Pete Maki I went to highschool with" Sure enough I looked him up on my Facebook as we are friends and the last post is from like a year ago with everyone congratulating him and you can google him too. Graduated from Nonnewaug highschool in 2000 just like me.

I remember we both used to always wear Red Sox gear and hats and we weren't great friends but we were chums and had mutual friends and would from time to time get into long conversations about how awesome the Red Sox were.

apparently, he ain't doing a bad job. The Twins can pitch.

Neat story.

He had two off in a row just a couple days ago.

And he earned those too, plus the hamstring was timely. Climate is also an issue.

Better off with him on the bench. Maybe he will end up on a Rusney Castillo path.

Agreed he's looked bad so far. Don't agree the sample is big enough to make a judgment.

A shout out to the three who voted/predicted the Sox would win 86-90 games this season. Absolute the right attitude to take. Me, a predicted a bunch of losers.

Sox are 9-9 despite a horrible team ERA, a lineup that looks like it belongs in the three-eye league but actually does score runs, a suspect defense, and marginal baserunning.

Recently, however, we have seen good starts by Sale, Whitlock, Crawford, Houck, Pivetta (but not his latest). Plus Kluber almost, kind of, sort of had one his 2d time out. moonslav says the pitching will be fine, and he's starting to look like a prophet.

I'm starting to like both catchers, Wright and Wong. I await the returns of Duvall and Story and the magical transformation of Yoshida into the guy the FO thought they were getting.

Every time McGuire is catching the Sox give up a lot of runs. It's uncanny.

It's uncanny how you never miss an opportunity.

What a horrible lineup. Red Sox ownership should be embarrassed by this and Bloom should be fired.
