I’m still not so sure Bogey would have taken a “reasonable deal,” and we are not really sure how much “reasonable” would have been.

I’m also thinking the Sox did not want to pay him what any of us felt was that “reasonable” amount.

I’m not even sure they would have given him what Story got, had Bogey said that was all he wanted.

That's why I said allegedly, not so you could reiterate those points again. :cool:

I think today was the first time Sox pitching really got demolished this spring.

The only one that causes me worry is Mills, since he might very well be on the opening day roster…

I’d still throw him in AAA.

As of right now, who do you think the opening 13 man staff will be?

Mills isn’t hurt. That bolsters his chances immensely…

In general, Mills won't go kaboom as long as he eats his Wheaties and keeps some trix up his sleeve. Sox may keep him around just for his green clovers, pink hearts, orange stars and yellow moons. Don't know if you can count chocula, but Chex could've really used him vs Japan.

No, that is true. He's most likely on the opening day staff just because Whitlock won't be ready.

So much for our 'prospects' Murphy and Walter. 12 runs, 11 earned in 4 1/3 innings pitched. I saw NO upside. Ugh....

@jcmccaffrey

The Red Sox optioned Chris Murphy to Triple A Worcester today.

@SoxProspects

The Red Sox optioned INF David Hamilton, INF/OF Ceddanne Rafaela, and LHP Brandon Walter to Triple-A after today's game.

Red Sox at Tigers: Tapia DH, Casas 1B, Duvall CF, Arroyo 2B, Refsnyder RF, Dalbec SS, R. Hernández C, Allen LF, Koss 3B, Pivetta P

Why do they keep doing this though?

Don't worry, they'll all be back up soon, by default...

... de fault of the plan; when you sign a lot of veterans to short terms, you're using them up until they break down. Then hopefully the young arms will be ready to step in and sustain intentions.

The reverse wouldn't make sense -- keeping all youngsters to begin the season, and then if they fail to replace them with oldsters.

We did sign up more 2 or more year deals than 1’s, button most were 2 year or second year option deals, so our roster continuity only slightly improved.

Apparently it's not a joke.

They want him to be more versatile since he’s not likely to start. Spring Training is preferable to work this out.

Why do people think this is such a horrible move? He looked Ok at short in limited action last year..

I'm all for it, unless it goes wrong.

I think trying Bobby D at SS is a good idea, and if it works out you’ve got 1 guy who could fill in at All IF positions if only for a limited time.

What is there to go wrong in a ST game? It looks like Turner is the backup at 1B, so if Bobby D isn’t a utility IF I don’t see much of a spot for him on the Red Sox, and should go back down to Worcester to get some AB.

He has a -16.1 UZR/150 at 3b. Why would he be an ok SS?

He's a bad 1b. He's a bad 3b. Somehow he'll be ok at 2b or SS?

They have Christian Koss playing 3b and Dalbec playing SS. Just flip flop them.

Koss has no chance to make the 26. This isn’t about winning a STing game. It’s about seeing if Bobby Dee might be an emergency, 1 game or partial game back up at SS.

I’m not a big Bobby D fan, but he has shown flashes of being productive, so they are just trying things out. It’s just a ST game after all, and like the Yuckers were saying during the broadcast the other day they don’t know if there has been any answers yet on what will happen to him from staying on the big club to going down to Worcester, or being traded.

After last year with Franchy Strange Glove at 1B anything is possible, or wouldn’t surprise me to what Cora would try. He might be better than Arroyo in the OF, but who knows.
