Okay, I thought the conversation was about how the Yanks were or were not better off "moneywise," after the Judge signing.

My bad.

You said the Yankees were not better off money wise, and I said they didn’t care at the moment. I also said that not all teams care about the dreaded tax line at the moment.

I was talking about the conversation before you said they were better off moneywise.

Yes, they were more prepared to spend big, now. I get it. You are right.

I was relating it to better off going forward, like I thought the discussion was about. That's why I said, "My bad."

Would Verlander have gotten a five year deal? I wouldn’t have signed DeGrom either, but the Rangers are just throwing money out there, and I don’t think have to much of a clue what they are doing. You know kind of like Bloom.

Yeah Bloom has been just throwing money all over the place.

I think the issue here is you made your mind up any Bloom a long time ago and now you’ve gone to fitting the stories to match your opinions. Certainly not open-minded…

Like I say all the time that what matters is now, and not what might happen 2-3 years away.

I know it's hard to believe, but the Yankees have proven to care about their budget, since the George era. If you want to hear rants about failure to spend on a team, go outside your bubble and read some past Yankee blogs.

The Yanks will reset within 3 years: book it.

Even the Dodgers are resetting, as we speak.

The Mets can't reset, and I predict the Yankees do not reset. They are over by $56 million this year. It'll be virtually impossible to get back under.

Who said anything about Bloom throwing money around? I said the Rangers didn’t have a clue what they were doing like Bloom doesn’t have a clue what he was doing. Money, or no money.

Well, the Rangers are adding some pretty good players. They're just wicked expensive.

This makes all the sense in the world. One year deal, club control of you want it for year two. This will be a pump and dump signing at the deadline with him bringing back some prospects. Classic rebuild move

The Yanks can reset in 3 years. 2023, 2024 and reset in 2025. No Donaldson, Rizzo and Severino, Torres and Montas.

Maybe, they won't but the penalties are too great, if they don't. I'd almost rather they don't reset.

The Mets are in a class all by themselves.

The Yankees were over in 2022. They would have to reset in 2024.

I do think Bloom knows what he’s doing. I also think what he’s doing is not what a lot of fans expect or, in many cases, want him to do.

The plan is clearly unpopular, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist…

When players start getting up in age especially a pitcher I think the last year is more relevant.

It’s more relevant than anything from 4 or 5 years ago absolutely. But it’s also just one year and sometimes a pitcher can just have a bad year or be injured.

I mean, Verlander had his best season at age 39. That’s just ridiculous…

The spent $560mill on three players to go from a 60 win team to a 68 win team.

They don’t make a good argument for improving through spending…

Let's see how it goes this year, though, after adding deGrom and Eovaldi.

It makes them a more palatable team to watch, at least. And should boost their gross revenues.

We are officially the home of old wounded dogs. We are going to be last again. Bloom is going to be gone after this year.

What has BAL done to get better?

They get a full year of Adley and Gunnar who both look like superstars in the making and have a plethora of MLB ready prospects about to come up…

He has been spending money, just not at the positions we had anticipated: SS/RF/SP (until Kluber). He did grab some high end relievers which we all saw as a need.

At least they grabbed pitchers that are certain to get 32 starts this season.

It’s blatant sarcasm…

No doubt. Anyway, I can see knocking the Rangers for overpaying, but if I was a Rangers fan I wouldn't be complaining about major efforts to make the team relevant. Not to mention coming up with that much money...

The last time they finished better than 3rd place was 2016. Only 3 seasons above .500 in the past 10 years. I'm sure Rangers fans will take whatever they can get at this point. I'm sure if they read this board they'd roll their eyes.

Rangers also signed Andrew Heaney. Their rotation is stacked with question marks.

DeGrom

Eovaldi

Perez

Heaney

Gray

Odorizzi (swingman)

Yikes. That's a rotation that FA can buy you.

#1 this was the year to reset. I nlame Bloom for the mistake he made at the trade deadline. To go over by $4M was a big mistake.

Our pitching will be better. Pay attention yo Bello and Whitlock. I expect Mata to join them in 2023. Thats is our future.
