Who said anything about taking back Haniger? My point is so far he’s the bulk of their off-season activity. (I thought they added someone else?)

Either way, losing Correa this way is the type of PR blunder that can only be remedied by massively overpaying for Devers..,

My first thought, too.

I thought the Mets were a good partner for a Devers deal, but obviously they're done now and suddenly it really does feel like San Fran will have to do something big. And hopefully - if it's with us - stupid.

Although I'm not at all familiar with their farm system.

San Fran may want to do something big, but I don't think a trade that only guarantees them one year of Devers is it.

I'm assuming it will come with a Devers extension for them, too.

A trade for 1 year of Devers makes no sense for them.

If they trade for Devers, they do have an uncashed check for $350mill that found it’s way back into their hands…

Absolutely. But how much will it take to keep Raffy from making it to the auction?

10/320 May get it done, but don’t you think at this point Devers is going to dip his feet in the FA waters?

Well, we did think the same about Betts.

The way some clubs were dishing out the big contracts I just don’t see Raffy doing anything now, and I don’t see JH opening his checkbook now for any kind of offer like that anyway.

Then deal him now. He’s worth more in the off-season than at the deadline

Good for Steve Cohen. It’s actually refreshing seeing one of the filthy rich *******s spend all his money and want to win this bad.

But if he keeps doing this and the Mets win back to back titles, will you feel the same way?

I mean the Red Sox ownership could be doing the same thing, it’s on them. All these owners are rich and with the money they want to charge fans at the stadium, the team they are fielding should be illegal.

And none of these owners are losing money. Even the Mets will be making money this year.

He'll become a FA because the FO doesn't want to pay him. I don't think they will offer him 10/320.

Exactly. That is partially why teams like Pittsburgh, Oakland and Baltimore don’t care, no matter how bad they are, they’ll make a profit and there is no ramifications for not fielding a competitive team.

The Mets will be reporting a loss. Whether the numbers can be relied on is a different question.

Unless you're talking about appreciation in market value.

Will anyone?

If nothing else, we have learned tax dodging by extending the length of the deal is in this year.

Devers is more likely to get 14/$320 than 10/$320…

Those three teams don't even need to sell tickets because of revenue sharing and tv deals. It's embarrassing.

The Atlanta Braves made $526M solely in baseball revenue in 2021 (the only team that publicly discloses). The Mets will not lose money in 2023.

Will the Mets lose out in revenue sharing rebates however? That can knock of a few hundred thousand of revenue.

Steve Cohen doesn’t care, this is a hobby for him

And it’s definitely noticeable. I frequent Camden Yards and PNC a decent amount and it’s rare to see stadiums even half filled, especially with orioles/pirates fans. It’s majority opposing team fans.

Steve Cohen is a hedge fund guy. Isn’t JH a hedge fund guy too? Why is our guy shopping in the clearance and irregular bin?

He’s too busy getting an NBA franchise in Vegas with Lebron James.

I don't think Lebron can do it until he retires?

Henry was a commodities market guy.

But even then, not all hedge market guys are equal just like not all baseball players get paid like Mike Trout…

It’s a few years away from officially happening, but Fenway Sports Group has been considered the big favorite for Vegas team for awhile.
