Correa is definitely getting 300 Mil this year. He's a year younger than Turner and better statistically

Agred.

Turner may be a bit more durable. He has about 650 more innings at SS than Correa since 2018.

Statistically they are very close. Correa has the edge in one number that really matters: age.

Correa has 888 career games VS Turner's 849.

So practically even.

Correa career WAR is 39 and Turner is 29. That's not very close

If the Giant steal away Judge from the Yanks, they will go after Correa or Xander 100 percent

That certainly makes their team interesting.

Their two best prospects are shortstops and their current OF is Harrison Bader, Aaron Hicks, and Anybody’s Guess…

See what I meant by the other day when I said that depending on the site you use you will get different stats. I got my numbers on baseball reference. Based on that site Correa is better and it's not even close.

@jonmorosi

The #Angels, #RedSox and #BlueJays are among the teams with interest in Kodai Senga, who is among the top available free-agent starters.

More interest. Sweet!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think FanGraphs gives much more weight to defensive metrics.

bWAR is just weird to me though.

Correa oWAR 5.2 dWAR 1.1 bWAR 5.4

Turner oWAR 5.0 dWAR 1.0 bWAR 4.9 (Why would it be below 5?)

2022:

Correa 5.4 bwar 140 OPS+, 4.4 fWAR 140 wRC+

Turner 4.9 bwar 121 OPS+, 6.3 fWAR 128 wRC+

Turner was projected to make $268 over 8 years. He effectively took 18% less in AAV to get 11 years.

If we could assume Bogey would take even just 16% less to get two more years that brings his projected contract to 200/9 220/10 range.

If the bidding gets up around $250 that’s just ridiculous, but the Sox should be able to match 200/9 and if they don’t we should break out the pitch forks.

200/9 is less of an AAV than our offer of $90M/4, but I'm not sure I'd go 9 years, when I think he'll be off SS in 2-3 years or whenever Mayer is ready.

If Degrom can get 5 years and Turner 11, someone is going to give Bogaerts 8-9.

The problem is, you’re bidding against every other team in baseball. Someone is always going to act irrationally and give the extra year. There’s value in a assigning value and holding your line, but if you try to act too rationally 100% of the time you’ll be left out in the cold with scraps.

Maybe Bogey is that guy, but they had 4 premier short stops in this years market. The Sox have very little excuse to not sign one.

At a certain point, we have to be ok with going the extra year with someone or else we truly will be Tampa North.

But Turner gets 5 extra points for Sliding Smoothness. I might need ore “o”’s in that word. And Correa loses 5 for thumping. First on his chest, and then on trash cans…

I'm all for overpaying someone. I just think Bogey's overpay will be too much, and He should not be a SS for too much longer.

Sign 2-3 from Senga, Swanson, Nimmo, Contreras or Nate (Jansen, Bassitt, Taillon?) Not that we can't afford Bogey and 1-2 of these guys, as well.

And there are teams with surprising wads of money out there. The Rangers followed up their $500 million spree last year with signing deGrom this year.

The Phillies have also shelled out hefty sums two years in a row.

I sure hope the Rangers and Phils can reset by next year so they can celebrate it on social media with their fans, who I'm sure will be ecstatic.

It's incredible how much money there is in the game now, though. We don't even bat an eyelash when a guy signs a $300 million contract now.

Phillies don't need to reset until 2024, Rangers aren't over, and Verlander isn't putting them over.

I'm guessing the Phillies don't reset. Their owner seems like a guy who wants to go for broke.

They will reset eventually, even the Dodgers reset a few years ago, I don't think anyone is ever going to live above that line in perpetuity.

How much longer can Swanson stay at SS? Not only will he cost a pick but he’s probably going to get a hefty payday as well

Oh yes! Just like we did! Why who doesn't remember where they were when the Bloom/Henry "RESET!" was posted! I mean you ask why people follow sports? There's your answer! What a great day in sports history.

1. Longer than Bogey

2. Less money and years than Bogey.

3. We gain a pick by losing Bogey and lose one for signing Swanson. Not as bad as it looks.
