I believe there are as many Red Sox Nation residents in Tampa/St Pete as Portland. If you want to get the feel for how the season is going, just ask the guy behind you at any of the multitudes of Dunkies in the area.

Don't go to Houston though. You're likely to have a building fall on you as you're walking down the street due to their horrible building codes.

That's not the half of it.

Well, you did call Houston, a city of over 5 million my "small corner."

Small little corner of the world reference has NOTHING to do with where you live. I said I believe you can feel the pulse better if you are out in it everyday like I am. and I believe if you still lived in Portland, and was out in it you would have a better feel than where you live today. Small little corner of the world references talksox only, which I have said many times when I say that’s just a small sample size of opinions from a few regulars compared to all the different venues I go on, and say from what I hear is a minority opinion. Living in, and being out in, and small little corner of the world are 2 different subjects.

Then, you would have cried when they did not sign him after a 2019 Cy Young season.

Why does someone always have to be crying, bashing, or hating? Bitching, complaining, and criticizing yes, but that goes to both sides of an opinion. Not doing a fire sale at the trade deadline the last two years is a good example. There were a lot more complaining that a fire sale didn’t happen then the other way around, but I don’t call that crying.

Disagree. People were very mad that Vaz was traded and that the Sox didn't make real trades at the deadline last season.

He was injured at the end of 2018. Make him earn the extension. That's what I would have done if I was the CBO. Oh well...

Funny how he recorded the last 3 outs of the World Series while injured.

I agree especially the players, so calling it very mad I agree with the mad part, and some more than others. I was more mad when Carlton Fisk left.

Average Fan was mad about those things. Future-Hugger Baseball Nerd was mad they didn't sell off.

Sale started 3 games in the postseason that year, and only lasted 4 innings in two of them, with one being game 1 of the WS, so he was well rested.

They should have given him a relief contract then!

Has the player/agent thing come up before or no?

I believe that if the player tells the agent he only wants his contract negotiated in the off-season, the agent will comply - fiduciary duty and all that.

Why should I care, if you think the word "crying" is not a good choice of words?

More to the point, why do you care?

(Yes, I've admitted crying happens on both sides of the issues and that I cry about things, too.)

I cried when he left and after we traded Burleson.

Well no matter how I or others criticize Bloom you have to give him credit for signing Martin and Jannsen

How about Yoshida and Turner?

Ok we agree. You cry, and I’ll complain, and you’ll call me a basher when I CRITICIZE Bloom. Now I’ll admit I’ve turned into a bad baseball fan for not watching what i think is a watered down game, and product on the field, and from everything I have gathered these last 4 games against KC wasn’t any kind of baseball clinic. As for what do I care I do every thing I did before except watch the games, and care just as much as you did last year when you bailed on the team so fast when I stayed right to the end. I didn’t want no fire sale last year, and I didn’t want no sell off this year. As always it’s been a pleasure to converse with you.

I really don't have the ambition to go back and read everything said between Old Red and Moon on this current spat version 784391.0 but I will say this.

I've had various times throughout my life were I've had a whole season go by and barely watch any games at all, and some seasons were I had been 100% invested in the team. Everyone is different but in my particular case it had nothing to do with onfield success but rather where I was in life as a man. Sometimes life gets in the way, whether it's work, school, women, or other various topics we do not need to discuss.

This point does bring back a fond memory. I watched or listened to on the radion EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. in 2013, and was so emotionally invested in that season that in my mind, in my world, it's the greatest Sox season of all time.

Good ole eye test, again.

I gave up on the hopes we could win a ring, earlier than others, but I still watched every game and cheered for every player to be a success.

Yes, I thought we should have had a sell off, so the team could be better going forward- like this year, too. I liked the Diekman and Vaz trades, and they both might still prove to be helpful.

We see things differently, including what we think being a fan (or good fan) means.

As for my word choices, I'd prefer to say "bash" instead of "constant, repetitive and excessive criticism." It's shorter and more colorful.

All kinds of fans see, and care about many different things. Some just go to the games to watch their favorite teams, and favorite players, and some just go to get the Fenway experience itself. Some get very technical, and deep in all the stats, and payroll, and follow all the farm boys like you do, and some could care less about any of all of that, and just want the Red Sox to win, and the only care about the standings today. In other words one type of fan isn’t any better than the other, or worse a fan than the other. I’ve said many times when I get mocked about the eye test, and the stats that I look at is that those are all I need, and care about. What’s good for me might not be what’s best for you, and vice versa. As for what you call the constant, repetitive, and excessive criticism all I can say about that is that I have a friend who prints tee shirts, and the Bloom Basher tee shirts way out sell the I’m a Bloom supporter tee shirts, and he thanks you for that. As always it’s been a pleasure. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some ND football. How about a hell yea.

Do you think they played good baseball this series?

A bigger question is have they played good baseball the past two years. Defense, and base running has not been a Red Sox strength.
