Rather than having 50 different posts about whenever someone goes on the IL, I figured just make one thread to rule them all.

Without further ado:

@mlbtraderumors

Red Sox Place Kevin Plawecki On Covid IL

So, adieu to the hopes for a COVID free Sox season.

Also Houck is apparently not vaccinated and therefore not allowed to make his next start in Toronto.

Not an injury, but definitely a big missed game…

I believe same issue with Sale (if he wasn't on IL already).

Do we know of any other guys that will miss the TOR series?

@TorontoStar

“I’m bummed that I won’t be able to make that start,” Houck said.

Ahhh, there's something you could do about it Tanner.

Take one for the team takes on a new meaning.

The report I read said multiple players won’t be making the trip to Toronto, so who, and how many does that mean?

@PeteAbe

Plawecki will be out 10 days, but it could be less.

If he has two negative PCR tests, no fever and approval from the joint Covid medical committee, it can be sooner.

Now we wait to see if there is a run of more players coming down with Covid. You definitely don’t want to get it while in Toronto, or you’ll be there awhile.

That's a worst case scenario.

I'm sure the MLBPA supports all unvaccinated players. Protecting their "choice" is probably in the latest agreement.

Not so sure. They won't get paid and don't accrue service time while on COVID vax leave.

Really? That's good news. Thanks.

Started to wonder if any NL teams would choose to take Sale if we threw in Houck for free... but no contenders would, because they might have to play Toronto in the World Series...

So Tanner doesn't pose health risk in US but does in Canada? I love our new science. 2+2 is now 5.

It's politics, not science.

On day 1 in Spring Traning, training staff most likely told all the unvaxxed players that they would need to be vaxxed in order to play in Toronto this year.

Anyone now saying "I wish I could play there" is just full of it. Part of your job is to play in Toronto. The requirements of playing in Toronto include vaccinations. Just get it for the good of your team or don't pretend like you really want to play.

Well said.

They pose risks wherever they go.

Sure.....Houck is always welcome at my house. Apparently he's welcome in Sox clubhouse.

one country can implement banal public health standards and the other won't.

Seeing the team have this many cranks is kind of gross.

2 staff members of the Red Sox tested positive too, so it’s just the start of things to come.

We may see some AAA guys make their MLB debut sooner than we anticipated.

I have no idea why Houck isn’t vaccinated, and it does seem like the overwhelming majority of those who aren’t have chosen not to be.

But there are some who are allergic to one or more of the components of the vaccine. If Tanner is one of those, then there really is nothing he can do…

If that’s the case he’s off the hook, but if that’s not the case he gets the hook.

If it’s medical, he gets a pass.

But a hypothetical yet realistic scenario is the Sox could have a game 7 in Toronto this October…

Then I guess Houck, and Sale would stay home.

If that was the case, we would have heard about it.
