@ChrisCotillo

Within this: The expectation is that the Red Sox will not be missing any key position players this week. Not getting into names (the team won't either) but that's the reality. Eovaldi, Pivetta, Wacha named as starters so they're good to go, too. Plus many key RPs.

@jcmccaffrey

It’s been a long first month of the season for the Red Sox and now they embark on a four-game trip to Toronto without a few key payers.

So it's just some relievers that will be missing? Who is key aside from Whitlock? I can't imagine Strahm or Diekman would have been signed if unvaxxed. Brasier and Barnes are vaxxed reportedly. Robles? Sawamura? Valdez? Davis?

So far just Houck and Crawford are out.

Now , I'm no expert on viruses or anything, but it seems to me that the vast majority of people getting and spreading Covid are fully vaccinated. What exactly is the point of denying entry to a healthy, unvaccinated young athlete?

Canadians are still pissed off at us for not selling/giving them the vaccines when they were badly needed.

Yup, no expert you are.

Yeah, but you're ignoring all those years he spent in the lab, studying microbiology and epidemiology.

I admitted that I was not an expert. I wasted too much time in the pool hall and missed out on the lab time. I do think that I asked a legitimate question though. One of our top pitchers is prohibited from competing in Toronto, and I don't think there is a valid reason for it.

@ChrisCotillo

Kutter Crawford and Tanner Houck are the only Red Sox going to the restricted list (unvaccinated).

Tyler Danish and John Schreiber called up.

You said more than that.

@PeteAbe

Kevin Plawecki has rejoined the Sox.

We need Alex Cora to rejoin the team. The Sox are lost without him.

We're just seeing this team stumble out of the gates. Last year we did the opposite and slowed down in August. Maybe we can do the reverse this year.

At the moment, I have zero confidence in this team's ability to win a game. I have zero confidence that the offense can score more than 2 runs in a game.

I'm not saying that they won't turn it around and start playing like a playoff-caliber team, but right now, they have almost nothing.

It's been a tough start to the season. I'm exhausted. LOL

@IanMBrowne

J.D. Martinez felt that adductor injury again pulling into second last night. Alex Cora hopes he can start at some point this weekend. The team is going to stay conservative.

Do people really think the Sox can get a decent deadline prospect for an expensive broken-down DH who should never play the field again?

Well... the Twins traded Nelson Cruz last year, and all they really got from Tampa was Joe Ryan, who leads the majors in WHIP.

It could get real interesting, if we're 10 down at the deadline.

I agree that it's a legitimate question. If vaxxed people can spread it too then the ban on the unvaxxed makes zero sense.

The ban isn’t the issue. The refusal of players to prepare to do all aspects of the job for which they are paid is the issue..

I disagree.

The ban is the issue. If the vax does not stop the spread, then the unvaxxed player is just as prepared as the vaxxed player.

And they are not paid while on the covid list.

Before you get too medical - and this is headed that way - none of this changes the requirements of Houck’s job, which involves pitching in places that require he be vaccinated…

I really don’t care that he doesn’t get paid for skipping work…
