@sittingstillsox

Let it be noted that Mayer's was not the only home run in the intrasquad game yesterday--here Phillip Sikes hit one out against Ryan Brasier.

@SoxProspects

A 2021 18th round draft pick, Phillip Sikes slashed .392/.464/.622 with eight doubles and three home runs over 74 at-bats last season for the FCL Red Sox.

Some thoughts after a week at Red Sox minor league spring training:

1. Mayer is the real deal

2. Casas/Mayer/Yorke is strongest top 3 since 2016 (Moncada/Benintendi/Devers)

3. Group of high-minors arms projected for bullpen is deep, talented

4. DSL/FCL group from '21 is promising

Last one is bolded for moon.

Will the Ortmeister turn out to be another Rule 5 swipe from the Yanks?

Question:

soxprospects has DHern listed as our AAA's top starter.

Are they really using him as a starter?

I like the idea. It gives him more IP to work on his questionable control and command. It doesn’t necessarily mean he will be a starter in Boston…

He spent most of his MiLB time prior to being called up as a starter. There was always a question on if he could start.

Maybe with all the walks, bringing him in with men on base is not a good idea.

Fitzgerald with two more taters tonight.

R Ramos has a tater as well.

Seabold did not make it to three innings.

Fiddlesticks.

I think Ramos is going to hit bombs this year in WOO. Power lefty bat is going to aim for that jetstream.

Fitzy should have made the team. I was one of the few saying that they should have put him on the 40 for Rule V purposes.

Where would he play?

UTIL instead of Arauz.

I was all for him making the team, and I felt Story might need a day or two off, early, so Fitzy would play, but I guess they want him playing everyday.
