Suzuki could have lengthened our lineup. Big miss by Bloom in my opinion.

I'm not sure Bloom would have gotten Story had he signed Suzuki. It's not really about Suzuki making so much, he could have afforded both, but that's a lot of money spent on non pitchers, when that seemed to be our biggest weakness.

Suzuki cost roughly half of Story. But Story had an MLB track record. But then it was a Coors Field track record.

I’d have preferred Suzuki, partially because it made te Arroyo/Bradley platoon better defensively…

I'd have preferred Suzuki with the extra money used on an upgrade on pitching.

I meant to say he "could" have afforded both. (I went back and edited.)

Suzuki is off to a great start. But we have no idea how he will hold up once pitchers have a book on him.

Yup.

Remember, Rusney started out at .928 after 10 games (2 HRs).

We do of course see how JBJ is doing.

And it is difficult not to react to small samples, even when we know that's all they are.

It's also more fun than constantly reminding ourselves of what we already know: it's still early, before it's summer, before we near the deadline, before it's getting late.

But don't forget: Devers' best month is July, JD's is August... and Bogie's is May (if his leg is healed by then).

It is a little different when the small sample size is reflecting what a player has been doing or trending towards for a much longer time.

I'd be more concerned if he had a high k rate. He's making contact, it's just not great contact right now. We've seen times when he looked lost up there. I don't see that with him right now.

My offensive expectations for JBJ are very low, this year, so I'm not really all that concerned.

I do think, if he continues to not get on base, Cora will play him less and less.

If Arroyo continues to falter in RF, Cora will play him less and less in RF.

How much more do you want to see? Bloom was in Detroit yesterday, and saw the mess he has created in RF, so let’s see if he finally does something about it. RF in Fenway will even be more of a problem for Arroyo.

You think, in Fenway, they might play Aroyo in LF and Verdugo in RF?

Could we see Fitzy called up?

I'm looking forward to a nice in the park HR.

This year, Fitzgerald has played the following:

2b: 1

SS: 1

3b: 2

I don't know why they haven't thrown him in the OF. Christin Stewart has no upside and is the worst starting player in WOO.

Why is Bloom making getting an actual backup RF so much harder than it needs to be? Of course it wouldn’t be so much of a problem if the Red Sox had a RF that didn’t need to be platooned.

Probably because he doesn't want to allocate more money to it if it can be avoided.

If that’s the reason then he never should have traded for JBJ in the first, and got someone who could play everyday.

Perhaps he tried, but it’s a bit hard to deal Renfroe for an upgrade over Renfroe without taking on even more money…

The solution might eventually be to just play JBJ every day. It’s not like they acquired him for his bat…

I would do that over Arroyo in RF.
