I'm pretty sure we will. He's got his two year extension and he's not exactly an attractive target for a trade.

He’ll be back but he will be nowhere near the front end of the pen, at least to start with.

Max, why didn't you blame Cora, who should have removed the shift with a fast runner on 3rd? It's alright to sometimes blame Cora. He's not god, oh wait, nevermind.

I had not considered the shift. Good point. That said, the steal of of home was just icing on the cake.

Better Barnes than Sale.

Two possible causes to tonight's eruption. One is that in last night's game thread when it was clear the Sox were going to lose, Kimmi said the Sox will win the ALDS in 4 games. The other is that Arozarena's showboating pissed off the Sox.

Tough crowd even in a huge win. Barnes is excoriated for allowing Rays baserunners, but no runs, which was actually better than the Rays starter and 3 of their relievers.

Great to be going back to Fenway 1-1 with Eovaldi starting Sunday night.

Not so great is the question of who in the world starts Monday night? Houck pitched 5 innings tonight and Pivetta 4.1 last night. Sale right now is worse than Barnes. ERod choked last night, but looks like the inevitable choice.

Sunday night with Eovaldi is huge because the Sox actually need that win badly.

Sunday night is huge, and as for Monday’s starter that glazed look in ERod’s eyes on Thur is a scary thought, and not much confidence that he will not to do that same thing again, but then again the options are very limited.

Have Sale go a few innings, then bring Houck in for a few innings, then Pivetta for a few innings.

Cash made some major errors last night. Very atypical. He took a three run lead and instead of protecting it like a nugget of gold, he let his relievers stay in longer than they should have and by the time he could take them out, he was down 3. Very weird. Usually Cash manages like every out and run is precious.

That being said, Sox swung it well and took advantage of mistakes.

Give a specific example of a reliever who should have been pulled sooner.

McHugh was hanging pitches from his first Hr allowed. He was left in to allow Enrique tie the game.

Wisler was coming off injury into a tie game. He’s a single pitch pitcher who didn’t have his single pitch. Zero chance he should have faced JD. The pen catcher should have noticed he didnt have his slider, but that’s beside the point. I’m aware that once he’s in, he needed to face JD, but you could see JD was gonna crush one early in that at bat. Should have walked JD and brought in KRob

Didn't see the game, but it doesn't seem like you can blame 14 runs on some "errors" however major by a manager.
