Agreed, but seeing Tiant and then Boggs in pinstripes hurt me more.

Well think of how much Yankee fans hated watching Boston trade away Tony Armas Jr…

Especially Tiant. I can still hear the chants (L O U I E, L O U I E) as he made his way in from the bullpen to face the Yankees in front of a packed Fenway Park.

I read that Devers has been working out with Luke Voit. Another indication that the " rivalry" is more with the fans than with the players.

Big change from the old days. Do you think Fisk worked out with Munson?

It was like a punch in the gut.

Glad he only had one decent year with them.

Devers is not moving to 1B.

Two words:

Dalbec

Casas

You’re assuming Bloom doesn’t trade away JD Martinez once the lockout ends…

Could we still sign Schwarber?

(Maybe trade Duran?)

1. Kike 2B/CF

2. Devers 3B

3. Bogaerts SS

4. Schwarber LF

5. JD DH

6. Verdugo RF

7. Dalbec 1B

8. Vazquez C

9. JBJ/Arroyo CF/2B

Sure, the Sox can sign Schwarber, assuming the off-season ever resumes…

It might as it creates another place for Dalbec and/or Casas to play…

Casas is already a decent 1b. No reason to move him off position.

I guess there is a chance Casas fizzles out, but he has to be penciled in as our future 1Bman.

Dalbec may move to LF, DH, 3B or another team, once Casas proves he belongs.

I think he meant DH, if JD is traded. Question: when Bloom deals for a decent starting pitcher and/or a decent reliever -- because we all know he doesn't have enough of either yet -- who is the most expendable trade chip: Casas or Dalbec, Yorke or Downs, Verdugo or Duran, JD and subsidies?

I'd say Mayer is untouchable right now... unless they sign Correa; but if Bloom is finally going to spend, wouldn't it make more sense to just use free agent money on priorities, like maybe Rodon and Jansen (though I'm not thrilled by the latter)?

That’s the key that Casas has to prove he belongs. All the hype in the world doesn’t always lead to success.

No, but untiul we find out, we shouldn't be acquiring someone to play 1B, or someone to play 3B with the idea of moving Devers to 1B for 2 seasons.

I agree with what you say, but why would Devers only play 1B for 2 seasons? Is he going somewhere?

How does the team improve if Casas fizzles out AND JD is traded? If JD is traded, they better be sure about Casas.

I don't think replacing Mayer with Correa is a great idea. The part of the reason you keep Mayer around is due to the cost savings from his first 6 years in MLB. I'm not sure Downs, Dalbec or Duran have a ton of trade value right now. Yorke is still a big question mark, but I think you hold onto him because of his ceiling. The best trade chip they have is Verdugo. He's young and cost controlled. He's already a proven MLB commodity.

JD is not going anywhere until next year.

Who is the last super hyped Sox prospect to fall flat?

I can't really think of any in recent memory.

Youk

Hanley

Lester

Ellsbury

Paplebon

Buchholz (maybe? still had a decent career)

LARS ANDERSON

Xander

Mookie

Moncada

Devers

Beni

Of these guys, only Lars Anderson fits the bill. Seems like the most hyped guys have worked out?

And I don't see the roster crunch that would be the impetus to move him this year either. Maybe next year if Dalbec AND Casas both need starting roles?

Posters have talked about moving him to 1b even before he was called up. I'm not sure he'd even be a good 1b. I'd be more likely to move him to LF.

Mayer may never make it to Fenway, and Correa would not be worth the money anyway. Downs, and Duran wouldn’t get you much in a trade, and Verdugo while a good player is not that big a trade chip either.

He's a FA in 2 years, so that's all we plan for.
