And Gallo wants a fortune in free agency, and this is why the Rangers traded him--they approached him regarding a long term deal but the two sides were far apart.

What are the Yankees going to do after 2022? Sanchez will be a free agent. Gallo will be a free agent. Judge will be a free agent. Green will be a free agent. Chapman will be a free agent. Gallo and Judge will both want contracts in the 200-300 million dollar range, no? Stanton isn't going anywhere--the Yankees can't trade him--and Cole isn't going anywhere either.

They will spend, spend, spend, again.

I hope he puts up monster numbers for the Yankees. The Yankees fall short of the postseason this year and next. They give him a massive contract and the team doesn't get a ring for another 20 years.

Brad Hand to the Blue Jays

Cesar Hernandez to the White Sox

I don't like Hand at all.

The Rumor of Scherzer to Sox is getting louder.

Red Sox Among Teams In Mix For Max Scherzer

By Steve Adams | July 29, 2021 at 11:44am CDT

11:44am: The Red Sox are indeed in the mix for Scherzer, tweets MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, who adds that Scherzer is open to a trade to Boston.

I'm watching Scherzer pitch, and while he is still dominant, his command is not the same but probably good enough to win games.
Posted
He still misses bats enormously and would be a hell of an upgrade for a team looking for some rotational stability. This May also be an indictment that the Sox don’t think Sale is ready.

He just allowed a bomb from R.T. and HBP Gregarious, but yeah he is still a an elite arm in the game.

I'm not aware that much of the status of his contract, though.

His career BB/9 is 2.4. It’s 2.1, this year, but I know control means a different thing to you.

Sell:

Trade Richards and Perez to save money, not for any return they might get. Pay some of their contracts.

Buy:

Trade for a better SPer than the 2 we trade away and maybe a RPer and or 1Bman.

Try to avoid getting 2-3 rentals.

Call it a day.

I don't see anyone wanting to pay Perez or Richards at this point. Any team that is out of contention is just going to piecemeal a rotation together. They have no incentive to add Richards or Perez.

G Cole just gave up 4 runs in bottom of 1st....yep, keep thinking you're in the playoffs.

Couldn't happen to a nicer org.

BB/9 is definitely a great stat to start off in order to rate control and command, but you have to look at his other peripherals and batted ball stats. For instance his 2021 HR/FB % & HR% are 14.4% and 1.35 while his career are around 10% and 1. Also his BABIP is way low compared with his career —238 vs 290, reason why his OPS against (600) is below his career (653)

It doesn't matter how you slice it, he is still a very good pitcher, no doubt.

hEYMAN also tweets that the Red Sox are in the mix for Jose Berrios. I want Berrios more than Scherzer.

If the Red Sox get either Berrios or Scherzer, forget about the bullpen (Hoack moves there) and trade for a starting 1b.

BB/9 is more about control than command…

Berrios will be too costly IMO.

Berrios is younger, but Scherzer is still better.

What Max brings to the table as well is experience and that intangible is a very important one in POs.

Yeah, it sounds like Berrios could be a better addition, not only because he is younger but you will have another year of control.

tricky thing about Rizzo is that he is a rental ...

Now, he has been down in 2020-21, but has also been a 4-win player as recently as 2019. His Statcast batted ball stats have not actually changed. He is still hitting it hard and squaring the ball as ever. His BABIP numbers have been silly outliers for his career that do not really square with his actual contact.

Dalbec's issue entirely about hitting the baseball on offense at least.

Rizzo is a costly deal and I'm not saying we should do it. But he's a good player and would be a huge upgrade at the position we are league worst at.

The latest cost on MLB.com for Scherzer or Berrios is either Casas, Downs or Duran. I'd happily give up Downs for either, especially with deeper infield prospect depth after the draft.

But there's no way I'm trading the next half decade of Casas or Duran for a chance at upgrading this season. Not when other moves -- like for relatively inexpensive first basemen and relievers -- can also improve this club in much cheaper ways.

I’m not in the playoffs are scrap shoot club, but we will not be faves over the NL teams and maybe not even the Astros, even if we add Scherzer and Rizzo, which we won’t be doing.

Some teams have better chances than others ... but if the bet is "Any specific team vs the field" the field is always the favorite.

Exactly.

Scherzer replaces Richards.

Sale replaces Perez.

I’m not Scherzer Bloom the small fish in Big pond is even Capable of making this deal happen .Love to see it but ole Chaim is a nickel and dimmer .
