This will be a tough game to win, but the team is pulling together, nicely.

Some players who have been struggling or on the IL are now coming to life.

The pen seems to have settled down after a bumpy stretch.

Let's keep the mojo rising!

Go Sox!

Alexa, play Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival

I was thinking, "Alexa, play LA Woman."

Well, I just got into town about an hour ago

Took a look around, see which way the wind blow

Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows

Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light

Or just another lost angel, city of night

City of night, city of night, city of night, woo, come on

L.A. woman, L.A. woman

L.A. woman Sunday afternoon

L.A. woman Sunday afternoon

L.A. woman Sunday afternoon

Drive through your suburbs

Into your blues, into your blues, yeah

Into your blue-blue blues

Into your blues, oh, yeah

I see your hair is burnin'

Hills are filled with fire

If they say I never loved you

You know they are a liar

Drivin' down your freeways

Midnight alleys roam

Cops in cars, the topless bars

Never saw a woman

So alone, so alone

So alone, so alone

Motel money murder madness

Let's change the mood from glad to sadness

Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin'

Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin'

Got to keep on risin'

Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin'

Mojo risin', gotta mojo risin'

Mister mojo risin', gotta keep on risin'

Risin', risin'

Gone risin', risin'

I'm gone risin', risin'

I gotta risin', risin'

Well, risin', risin'

I gotta, wooo, yeah, risin'

Woah, ohh yeah

Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows

Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light

Or just another lost angel, city of night

City of night, city of night, city of night, whoa, come on

L.A. woman, L.A. woman

L.A. woman, you're my woman

Little L.A. woman, little L.A. woman

L.A. L.A. woman woman

L.A. woman, come on

Last time out, Perez went 7.2 in Houston, giving up 0 runs. Valdez did something very similar 6 days ago: 7 innings, 1 run. I think Perez was a little lucky, whereas Valdez impressed me with what he threw, which seemed to have our guys mesmerized. Tonight it's lefty vs. lefty at Fenway and the green monster which loves to gobble up lefty pitchers facing righty-heavy lineups.

The Astros and Dodgers lead MLB in runs scored with 313 each, and the Sox are 4th with 299. And the Sox have played 1 more game. Neither team is way up in dingers, but the Sox are #1 in doubles, 136, and the Astros are #2, 112. Astros have the higher team OPS, .766. Sox are .755.

Houston's ERA is 10th best, 3.79. Boston's is 11th best, 3.81.

Astros are 13-13 on the road, and the Sox are 15-13 at Fenway. 4 of the 5 wins in the streak were on the road.

In the past 10 years, both teams have been hammered by MLB for stealing signs.

Adjust ERA:

ERA+

116 BOS

110 HOU

What was the punishment for the Sox aside from the banishing of their video guy? Remember, Cora was only punished for his role in the Astros nonsense.

They lost a second-round draft pick too, I think, but we get off pretty lightly, so not hammered.

Strong line of thunderstorms developing here this afternoon. Looks like they will be gone by 7. Very similar weather to Friday's game in NYC

Publicly shaming for the Sox, who were "saved" in part because their sign stealing sure didn't help them in the postseason, plus I think John Henry was sincere when he said he would not tolerate it. Houston's penalties were more definite because their sign-stealing helped them win the WS plus it looks as though management was involved.

Quelle difference, which sarcastically means ERA + and plain old ordinary ERA both say the two staffs are evenly matched.

Pretty close, yes.

16% better than the league is a bit more of a lead over 10% better than the league than a 0.02 ERA differential, though.

Two lefties on the mound, tonight.

To me, this might be Dalbec's last chance to stay on the big club. I'm not one to believe any one game makes or breaks a player, but it seems like Dalbec has already gone beyond the breaking point. His biggest asset is batting vs lefties, so this could be it.

Maybe Chavis gets the call, but we could hand 1B to Santana and Marwin and give Santana a few more chance to prove he belongs. I'm sure many here already feel he's beyond the breaking point, too.

Santana might be winding down on his time with the Sox organization.

With Duran not available for call-up, the choice to replace Santana would be interesting- assuming Chavis replaces Dalbec. We could call up Marcus Wilson, who is already on the 40 man and is batting .946 in AAA.

The only other 40 man guys are Arauz, Cordero and Brennan (P).

I'm not sure when Bazardo & Houck get off the IL, but they will need a few games under their belt before consideration.

Non 40 man additions could come from:

Munoz

Mieses

Lopez

Ort

Chavis?

If Dalbec continues to flounder, maybe the Sox decide to trade for Mitch Moreland!!

I said Chavis for Dalbec. My next point was about who for Santana.

Hoping to catch most of it, I told my kid I would take him for a long walk after work so I likely will miss the first two or three innings, but then should be home in time for the rest..... as long as it's not a blow out by then lol

It's well-documented that the Houston analytics dept. developed the system -- before the Astros hired Cora. There are employees with quotes attributed to names admitting and even bragging about their schemes. It's all out there, but Cora was made the scapegoat, and there are many people -- including Red Sox fans -- who choose to cling to this narrative... for whatever their personal reasons.

As long as I know there's no evidence of the Sox cheating. Neither player nor member of the coaching staff and FO were suspended.

OTOH The Astros accepted publicly they cheated reason why MLB suspended people there.

Putting in the same sentence the Astros and the Sox makes me puke lol

Something wrong with Verdugo?

I would have liked to see all cylinders at full capacity in this series.
