I say again--assume Perez has a good start as Pivetta did 6 days ago. The Sox still lose, 2-1. Valdez is hard to beat.

You have to find a way to hit good pitching. Drive up the pitch counts.

I'm guessing Dalbec has never seen a curve like that in his whole baseball career. This is not a defense of Bobby, because he's also struck out a ton against pitchers with far lesser stuff.

You watched the game, as did I. I think Valdez just has our number.

Tonight he had 8 K's, no BB's, and gave up 5 singles and 1 run.

Six days ago he also went 7 innings, also gave up 1 run, also gave up just 5 singles, but in that game had 10 K's and 2 BB's.

At this point, Dalbec's approach s/b to get in the batter's box and just look for one pitch in one location. If that pitch is thrown, great. If it isn't, well it can't be any worse than it is now.

He was on their postseason roster a year ago, starting 3 games and making one relief appearance. He went 3-1 with a 1.88 ERA and a 1.000 WHIP. That loss was 2-1. At age 27, he seems to have figured something out.

Yup. If you have a great curve ball and don't throw too many hangers, you can become very rich.

Makes sense to me.

What's with playing against Houston?

But I do have to say this year it seems to me we rarely just get thrashed liked this. It seems rare and far between that it feels like the game is over early for this team. This was a stinker.

I've never liked Houston or the state of Texas, but I disliked Houston less when they were in the NL.

I was on this board more a few years ago. Your dislike of Texas is remembered by me. And I live in Austin.

Can't say I'd argue with you. Especially disliking the Houston team. At least the Rangers a Ranger fans are harmless.

Just blurting this out. I have no idea about Dalbec and if he's a winner or not. But I can't think of another player with more just plain ugly strikeouts than him. He just seems baffled at times.

If he hits a dinger enough I can forgive it. But dang does Dalbec look like a fish out of water a lot of the time.

What's a great music town like Austin doing in a dump like that?

If someone asked me what would be the last state I'd choose to live, Texas would be near the top of the list.

I've lived here for 14 years. It's not as bad as I expected.

Good job by Moon. 5 game winning streak. MAX's 9 will probably be impossible to top.

I stopped the bleeding.

Now, I pass the torch.

I'm still disappointed that after winning 5, one loss brings out so much negativity, but I guess that's something that will never change.

Well, Moon, the SOX swept the Yankems on their home field under your watch. That hadn't been done in a very, very long time, so you can add that to your resume.

Perez’s run of stellar starts wasn’t sustainable. He was due for a stinker. He’s a meh starter. I just hope to get regular turns, some quality starts or 5 innings of work from him. He’s okay as a #4 guy.

Looks like you never lost a beat in the harassment of Texas over the years. Look man, I just work here. And happen to live here.

The music thing is good here, just not since the plague cause we are called the world's LIVE MUSIC capitol of the world and nothin's been live for more than a year.

There was good news regarding Sale today. 20 minutes of BP and he felt good and was very confident of returning this season. If the SOX can just hang on until then.

Houston is one of the most amazing cities in the USA. I never knew it till I lived near it. But it's probably more eclectic and interesting and diverse than all but a handful of cities in the USA.

Except where splinter lives. As obviously intergalactic aliens have rooted there and made it their home.

Is he even going to start a game all season? I doubt it.
