Yup, this is a disgraceful showing

My game day thread magic is coming to an end :(

Perez is in the clubhouse asking the interpreter how to say “Thanks for the loss” in Japanese.

Yup. Perez gave us a great game. Offense was against was a total no show

I srill think we have a chance, tonight.

I like the confidence.

I on the other hand accept that we sucked and will drink whiskey

Maybe he should be saying it to Xander; without his error, Perez is out of that inning. Also struck out weakly with RISP a couple of times.

Wouldn’t even need an interpreter.

Nah, Sawamura deserves it.

Its a good thing to learn another language.

The offense deserves it. It’s been dreadful three games in a row. Wake up!!! They said Martinez had a migraine tonight. Couldn’t imagine playing with that. My dad used to get them bad and would throw up.

Miserable game. Was busy switching from the draft to the game but either way i am happy with the pats selection. Wanted mac jones.

Just finished watching the game and not much to comment on. Good pitching beats good hitting as the SOX offense heads south to join the rest of the league.

Actually, the only SOX batter who consistently hits good pitching is Devers, which is why I continue to post that he's the best hitter on this team. Devers' major weakness is his weak grasp on the mental part of the game. Not covering 3rd causing that bad throw to advance the runner is just another example of his mental lapses.

Hopefully, tomorrow's Rangers' pitcher is not good and the SOX can put up some crooked numbers.

Could blame the loss on jet lag, but I'm more inclined to tip my cap at Gibson;he had excellent stuff tonight. Nice job, also, by Perez.

The hitters acted like they were facing Koufax.

I know it's a broken record, but sometimes you have to give credit to the opposing pitcher. Like when we give credit to our pitchers when they pitch a good game against a good team.

Tough loss. Offense is currently going through one of the ebbs that always comes with a 162 game season. Hopefully we can continue to keep ourselves in the game with pitching until the offense gets going. The quality of starting pitching we will see the rest of the series falls off dramatically from Gibson. Need to play better defense tonight though. The radio booth pointed out that Xander looked jet lagged, or at least fatigued/tired. I have to think playing in front of a near capacity crowd for the first time in 18 months had something to do with at as well. Maybe a little stage fright?

That explains last night, but in the two games against the Mets he looked lost at the plate. Wonder if that's what was going on there as well

What seems special about this team is that when one area struggles, another pulls up the slack and keeps us in the games.

Our offense is in a 3 game funk. It could be the pitchers we face all had good nights.

Our D hurt us last night. The HR ball, too.

A whole lot of pitchers are having good nights this season all over baseball.

Maybe he was afraid they'd all boo or cheer his way? It was weird seeing thousands of unmasked people sitting shoulder-to-shoulder, as if Texas has a force-field protecting it from everything happening across the rest of the planet. Cora mentioned that the team will be very wary this weekend.

Meanwhile, my son's Little League requires that kids wear masks in the batter's box... even though hitters face the pitchers -- away from catchers and umps behind them (who only have to wear equipment masks). Once the batter reaches base, though, masks are optional. Batters didn't have to wear masks last summer or fall...

Like that guy Kikuchi in Seattle. Couldn't throw a strike against us last Friday, then goes out and 1 hits Houston yesterday. It will happen. That's the direction the league wanted to go in this year so we just have to get used to it.

That said, we really need to take the next 3 games of this series. Big opportunity here to make some headway in the standings with Detroit coming to Fenway next week

Also, lots of hitters look lost against deGrom...

Valid point. Could just be a slump, happens. Hope him and the rest can rebound tonight.

Our Ace is up..... but I am damn sure not saying it’s a win. Bats need to get going.

At the start of my kids' season (January), there were only a handful of kids in the entire league that wore masks at all. My 6 year old wore one for a few weeks and then would just take it off since she's allowed to not wear a mask outside at school. My 9 year old wore his for most of the season and was probably the last child in the league to take his off. For us, we knew the risk were minimal, but wanted to do our absolute best until my wife's grandfather was vaxxed.
