11 HRs in the last 2 games.

Kike's OPS is now up to .783.

Renfroe to .780.

Devers .924.

JD up to .953.

Will Kike pass Arroyo's .792, tomorrow? The guy was at .660 on June 19th, and posters were writing him off as a bad signing just 1/4th of the way through his contract.

He was at .720 June 29th

.740 July 8th (10 days later)

.744 July 17th

Last 2 games:

5 for 9 with 2BB (On base 7 of 11)

3 HR

2 2B

5 RBI

Kike da man!

His great defense has been revealed.

The Sox now have 7 batters over .750, despite Renfroe and Verdugo tredning the wrong way.

The BID THREE!

.953 JD (the man on top)

.924 Devers (forevers- lock him up!)

.909 Bogey (battling an injury- gutting it out)

Gotta stay solid!

.792 Arroyo (gotta stay healthy!)

.783 Kike (Man on Fire!)

.780 Renfroe (Jacks only)

.751 Verdugo (Long slump)

Need 1or 2 to rise up!

.661 Dalbec

.650 Vaz

Desperation time!

.582 Marwin

.574 Chavis

.554 Santana

The experiment with Arroyo at 1st base was a costly one.

Franchy Cordero could return to Boston Red Sox on Thursday as Danny Santana (left groin) likely will be placed on IL

Why not?

Wilson and castellaneous pulled from their minor league games tonight.

Is something happening?

Minor leaguers get pulled from the starting lineup every day. But in July, this suddenly becomes big news..

One tip - if it’s Marcus Wilson being pulled, don’t get too worked up. Any trade involving him is not likely to be a blockbuster…

That Castellanos/Cannon deal is going to be yuuuge...

My guess: Lineup against LH starter (tonight)

Hernandez CF

Bogaerts SS

Devers 3b

Martinez DH

Renfroe RF

Vazquez C

Duran LF

Dalbec 1b

Chavis 2b

My guess: Lineup against RH starter:

Hernandez 2b

Duran CF

Bogaerts SS

Devers 3b

Martinez DH

Verdugo LF

Renfroe RF

Cordero 1b

Vazquez C

BTW, it might make sense to promote M.Wilson as some point and platoon Wilson with Verdugo, with Wilson starting in LF against lefties. Verdugo has been so terrible against lefties that it may be time to do something like that. Of course, the Red Sox will need to find the roster space for Wilson, who hits lefties really well (based on AAA numbers).

They can demote a pitcher.

Anything else would be a massive overpay.

Also worth noting, both Cannon and Castellanos would be more famous with the first name “Nick”…

What if it's short term big spending? Something you can get out of in 2-3 years?

This is my preference. I would rather pay a higher AAV for fewer years than the other way around. I'm good with 2-3 year deals, even if we overpay a little in dollars.

It seems like a more sound financial decision to really overpay for 2-3 years than to kinda overpay for 8 years.

I get that, but almost $53M over is not something to emulate.

To be highly competitive, next year, they will likely have to spend large, again.

No doubt, I wouldn't want to go over by $53M, nor would I have ever signed Mookie to that deal.

I'm talking about their general philosophy. They have sustainability, financial flexibility, and a strong farm. Yes, that's the model that I hope Bloom emulates.

Will the Sox pick up Richard's $10M club option for 2022? Or will they use the same strategy as they did with Perez and attempt to re-sign for less money?

What is his market value? Can he get a multiple year contract?

I suppose what he does for remainder of season will tell.

We will have to wait to see how he performs the remainder of the season. He seems to be reinventing himself to some degree of success so far. He pitched well through 5 innings last night, against a very tough line up. The 3rd time through the order is a very real thing for starter.

Next year, you could have Seabold/Whitlock/Houck/Pivetta all trying to be squeezed into the rotation. If ERod doesn't re-sign, that would leave 4 guys scrambling for 2 spots.

Sale

Eovaldi

Free Agent

Whitlock

Houck

As the saying goes, you can never have enough pitching.

I agree, but I'm not sure Perez is worth 6M. I know Richards is NOT worth 10M.

I agree, but he's also cooled off a bit lately.

Absolutely. You're not going to sign the Mookie Betts of the world, but you can get very, very good second tier type players.

There may or may not be a better pitcher than Perez available for $6M, but that price is really not unreasonable.

As of now, I agree on Richards.

That's why I think we will sign an older pitcher to big money but just 1-3 years.

Perez has had 4 bad starts out of 19.
