Jacked up about being 1-1. Love it!

Jacked up about a few positives. The offense is gonna hit. Not worried about that. We kept a potent Jays lineup to 4ER in 19 innings with most of those innings coming from the pen sans Britton, Chapman and Wilson. Sanchez is hot again, so that helps. Lasagna looks incredible. Kluber looked really good all told. Even though we lost opening day, I think there have been some clear positives.

Totally. Plan the parade. Only 160 games left. Can’t be too early. I absolutely LOVE fans like you. Seriously. Been around them all my life.

And “we”? What position do you play?

One of the millions of fans who’s patronage allows us to field a team!

Also, I am not planning any parade. I do think we are the best team in the AL, but the Dodgers look to be world beaters. I just hope they get tripped up before the WS

Sure you are. You were ready to fire everybody when you lost last year. You’ve come in hot this year convinced this is the year. Good for you. The Yankees look great on paper. Like I say I love fans like you. That’s not meant to be an insult. You provide almost as much entertainment as the on field product. And when you don’t win, again, this year you will be sideways pissed off and ready to fire everyone again. And it will be fun to watch. You are a Yankees fan on a Sox board attempting to bait and argue (as you should) with fans of a franchise who have nothing to lose. We Sox fans only stand to gain if the Sox surprise some people (as I think they still might) whereas you have everything to lose as the Yanks once again come in as paper champs likely to fall short. Again. Only downside for you. But you are on fire. Keep it up! All in good fun my friend. Enjoy the ride. See you in the game thread!

Oh please. You plan one every off-season...

From the 2018 championship team the Sox have shed the following: Rotation- Price and Porcello. Bullpen- Kimbrel , Kelly and Workman. Infield - Moreland , Holt and Kinsler. Outfield- Benintendi, Bradley and ( last but certainly not least ) Betts. For the most part , the replacements for these guys have been somewhat inadequate at best to absolutely terrible at worst. That is the difference between a truly great team and the team we are watching today.

All that, and we still have a budget over $200M!

Thanks, Dave!

The payroll for the guys taking the field every day is not all that impressive. ( And neither are the guys taking the field every day ). A lot of it is tied up elsewhere.

Not really.

$16M/yr for Price

$2.8M Beni

That's less than 10% of $200M.

Play Downs and Casas trade off everyone not named Verdugo ,Xander ,Devers,Sale Erod,Hauck Kiki I know it’s early to start thinking this way ....don’t care .Release JDM or trade for a bucket of balls move Devers to DH immediately.I lean to keeping Hunter Renfroe a year....pull the plug roll the dice I’m sick of this .

We need Devers to be confident period and this Redsox team is on the verge of destroying another player by making him something he just can’t be .I am of the belief that JDM employment with This team is only hurting Devers ability to slide into DH duties ASAP .You want to play the kid at first fine but sparingly like Ortiz sparingly like hardly ever .

Okay, but we aren't paying him to play for another team.

Add his contract and it's still only about 15%- significant, but not the reason we look so bad.

Dude, Devers is not going to be a DH at 25.

He will be a plus defensive 1Bman, if he continues to suck at 3B D.

Moon the kids footwork is horrific he has mental laps on balls that have to be made by MLB players.I don’t see the consistency from Devers and he’s by far my favorite Redsox player since David .Play Casas at first play Downs at second move Xander to third next year and get a plus range SS .I do think this team can hit and destroy clubs this year and yes JDM is the best hitter In Thisbe short sample ....I am trading JDM as quick as someone offers 30 cent on the Dollar and changing Course immediately....would I love JDM to build serious value ????? Helllll yes .Defense wins championships and Pitching !!can we agree we can put our best Defensive team a chance going forward ? Frenchy has Options left as does Hunter I think ? If we continue this slide for a week I’m just not of the belief you don’t make serious moves internally.JDM has value on the trade market if he could net a future starting pitcher and a decent trade subsidy I’m doing the trade week 1.

If we continue to suck, we could see a massive fire sale.

I hope so Moon the sooner the better .

I'll never hope we suck, unless maybe, when it's the end of a season and we can get a higher draft pick, and even then...

It's certainly too early to think fire sale, and you won't get back what you'd get nearer the deadline.

The current team is a joint production of John, Ben, Dave, and Chaim. Nobody is without credit or without fault.

What's the remaining fallout from Ben? Drafting a couple of young guys or international free agents? We're pretty far removed from the Cherrington years.

Ben left us with virtually no pitching at any level.

You also have to throw in Sale....big difference between on injured reserve and Sale's case. I'd wish he return tomorrow but there's no guaranty that he'll return this year. I keep saying $43M of our contract is shut down. How often 'a setback' results in weeks of shutdown?

When he left, the prospects were:

Moncada

Devers

Espinoza (highly regarded)

Margot

Benintendi

Kopech

Chavis

Logan Alen

Dubon

Brian Johnson

ERod was a rookie.

That's a lot of young talent. While the talent is mostly offensive, they could have used some of those guys to bring in young arms.

And don’t forget Trey Ball! To paraphrase Bob Gibson to Tim McCarver, the only thing that Ben knows about pitching is that he can’t hit it. That is not a rich list of pitching talent. It is pretty pathetic.
