They were there, last winter, too.

We got Brice based on spin rate, right?

I think the hold overs were there last year and got replaced by the “A” team during the year.

Some of the guys who were replaced are doing very well, but most arent.

Can we stop acting lke this was a straight up Franchy for Beni trade?

LOL many fans only pay attention to the guys who are actually playing in the bigs right now.

Then, at least account for the $2M of so we saved and call it the Cordero & Renfroe for Beni trade, or maybe Cordero & Marwin or Sawamura...

Benintendi is playing well. I , for one, am glad to see it. He was a part of the 2018 super team , and I will always have good memories of that. I don't see his success as a knock on Bloom. Would like to see JBJ get hot as well.

Well said, I agree 100%.

If he does well, so be it. He's got just one more arb year left.

I think I would rather have Benitendi back!

Although the pitcher in the minors is interesting. I only saw him pitch one inning so more evaluation is needed.

It's Beni

for

Cordero

Winckowski

$2+M (paid for one from Renfroe or Sawamura or Marwin)

3 PTBNL

Maybe we get better players if Beni has good year. To me, he was no longer viable in Boston. I've certainly had enough of him. Not in my core group going forward.

If we waited a year, the team getting him gets one year not two.

I think our timing was just right.

Beni's current numbers are thoroughly mediocre.

...and just because they are better than Cordero's after 7 weeks, does not mean the trade was bad.

Cordero may still prove to be worth something. He still has 2 more years of control to one more for Beni.

Winckowski had looked very promising.

The money saved got us Renfroe or Sawamura, plus whatever we save, next year- Beni's last arb year.

The 3 PTBNLs may end up being the best part of the deal, but even if none do anything, the trade still looks decent to good, as of now.

Sounds like the best move for Beni, at exactly the right time in his career.

Too bad that aweful year last year cost us a possible / probable all-star, because of all the wrong concerns guidance.

I'm really happy for a guy we all had such high hopes for, but was steered in the wrong direction. Sounds like he's being coached as still up & coming young player he has been for years... GOOD FOR HIM, and all the best to a kid we raised, but put out on his own too early. Understandable with all the chaos & injury, but still negligent of the Sox organization. IMO

I’m not sure we lost too many All Star seasons from Benintendi. I know he’s only 26, but his current .735 OPS, while stellar next to Cordero’s, is still pretty average. (And is really very Chavis-like.). But really, the guy has had an OPS over .780 in a season where he had more than 120 at bats exactly one time. Sure he’s young enough to find his way, but his control remaining made it unlikely that happened in Boston anyway...

He'd have been boo'd off the team after his slow start.

In that hypothetical, I don't think Alex Cora would let anyone get boo'd off the team.

Of course, and there were not enough fans to boo loudly enough for any effect.

I was speaking more about the fans on this site. Most would have wanted him gone by the middle or end of April.

We should get some news on who these PTBNL are very soon. Here is why I'm excited. The list of guys the Sox can choose from was determined months ago. There could be a guy or two on that list whose prospect status has shot up the boards, it won't' be a high level guy in AA or above but I can see them getting a guy with a high ceiling in A ball. Don't close the books on these trades just yet.

Yes, they wouldn't get "boo'd" they'd get "Franchy'd".

Mets player needs to be chosen by Friday night. The Royals players need to be chosen by the end of next week.

Apparently my prediction of JT Ginn is extremely unlikely, as Ginn had TJ surgery this off-season. Shame, because after I made it, Fangraphs ranked Lee and Ginn right next to each other with the same Future Value, so it looked like a good swap.

With Ginn obviously off the table, maybe one of the high upside 3b prospects like Mark Vientos or Brett Baty is more likely...

I'm not sure how highly ranked Ginn was 5 months ago but at the time it was said that the list of prospects the Sox were choosing from was NOT top 20. Not top 20 then, these guys could be top 20 now.
