IDK, so many prospects just flame out. That's why you hoard as many as possible.

I get that, and I think I was just hoping more from these guys we got via trades, since that is what Bloom is famous for doing.

Rosario had a 782 OPS in August. I think missing out on 2020 really hurt a lot of these guys. He's a career 700 OPS guys so it's not like he has a huge ceiling.

Potts has taken a step backwards, but was injured at the start of the season and is still only 22.

German has been taken out of the pen. His last two appearances have been in relief: 2 innings, 4k, 0h, 0bb, 0r. (SoxProspects had him projected as a middle reliever anyway.)

Wallace had only played short season ball before this year and missed out last year. In August: 0.92 WHIP. He has 20 k's in his last 11 innings to only 4 bb's.

Yorke's 1219 OPS in Greenville is just hilarious.

OPS by month:

May 483

June 953

July 966

August 1352

Sept 1196

Rosario's big plus was defense, right?

Plus: plate discipline, arm, speed

Plus Plus: range and glove (highlight reel)

His defense was why I was very high on him, when we traded for him. I guess his lack of offense, this year, should not have surprised me.

Maybe he just needs to be a .720-.750 OF'er to stick around.

The problem is that he's already on the 40 man. You can't hide a bunch of guys on there for a few years.

Jay Groome: 2 years away?

Brian Mata: No timetable?? (They won't 60 day IL him for service time reasons)

Hudson Potts: 40 man casualty this offseason?

Rosario: give him one more year to figure it out?

I projected Potts and Rosario as rule 5 or FA addition DFA top candidates.

Every offseason we kept predicting Marcus Wilson would be DFA'd too. It took a lot longer than any of us expected.

Got that right. Then, when nobody expected it, poof, he was gone.

Casas' 3 HRs yesterday traveled over a quarter mile. I'm not saying bring him up, but at least don't trade him.

They're not trading him.

We've been seeing some great things from the farm, recently.

It was nice watching our farm depth improve, but now we are seeing some of our top farm hands take it to another level.

Casas, Yorke and Mayer in particular.

Buying Seabold, just from what Sale said he saw in his rehab: "Ridiculous... plus fastball, plus breaking ball..."

Selling Peacock, ridiculous in the other direction: cut from AAA, picked up by Boston, and is 0-1 with a 19.29 ERA in 2.1 IP here.

Is bringing up Seabold for a few stints one of those safe "What do we have to lose" scenarios? If he could only sport an ERA of 17 or 18, that'd be an improvement.

It seems obvious, but as I have said often, I trust their choices on timing.

Are we calling up the wrong guys, or do we just have guys that only do well in the minors?

No, guys like Espinal and Hart are more up and down guys than MLBers. Crawford was on nobody’s radar in the offseason and wasn’t great in AAA.

The high ceiling guys are further away.

If Puvetta got sick on Friday, Seabold would’ve been called up. I believe he pitched on Saturday.

In just a week, out farm value has shot up about as much as it can- in a week!

It would be hard to find a minor league system that has a better group of infield prospects than Mayer, Yorke, Casas, and Blaze. Amazing how great the infield prospects are even with Downs' disappointing year.

They have better SP prospects than given credit for with Groome, Bello, Mata, and a few others. It would be awesome if N.Song gets started next season but I don't remember when he is expected to return.

They are a little short on corner OF prospects, I suppose, but corner OF is probably the easiest spot to fill in other ways. The Red Sox top OF prospect is Duran, who plays CF and there is always a scarcity of quality CFs.

As others have remarked, I hope the Red Sox spend their top two or three picks on pitchers in the 2022 draft in order to build a solid foundation of prospects behind the current group of Bello, Groome, etc.

Well put, and since we have Whitlock and Houck on the big club, already, who aren't technically "prospects," our young pitching looks better than in a long time.
