So Archie Bradley got 1 yr $6mill. His projected arb salary was $4.3 to $5.7 mill.

Maybe not so discounted on the 'smaller' deals.

Especially since the Sox are not getting Archie Bradley, who just signed with Philadelphia...

$6M/1

This is the first significant deal I've seen where I wish Bloom had paid a little more to get him (if possible).

Somebody's gotta say it: the Fiscal Fillies' brand new Baseball Officer addressed an area of need -- the bullpen -- and in two weeks traded for Alvarado and Coonrod, and signed Archie Bradley.

@jonmorosi

Source: Corey Kluber talks are intensifying and there is an increasing likelihood that he will sign with an

team by Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Kluber’s throwing session this week was well-attended by team execs and scouts.

The original expectation was today.

@ChrisCotillo

Two more free-agent starters the Red Sox have checked in on, per sources: Garrett Richards and Matt Moore.

The 2015 Rays pitchers Bloom may collect this offseason:

Andriese - check

Archer

Colome

Moore

Odorizzi

Yates

That's 82 GS for that group.

Richards is an awesome call. He was solid last year. He was averaging 95 mph on his FB. He has been an ace in the AL. I think he will sign a pillow contract somewhere. Boston could definitely do worse than him. Heck, so could the Yanks

He makes Eovaldi look like an iron man though.

So could the Seattle Mariners.

Garrett Richards had his best years with the Angels when Seattle GM Jerry Dipoto was general manager in Anaheim.

He missed out on Stanek..

I hope the shoe to drop isn't "Matt Moore."

My guess - Kluber is the top choice, with Odorizzi being Plan B. I have my doubts they sign both and are more likely to get neither than the two of them.

So hopefully they can land one...

Cotillo:

Some more Red Sox notes from this:

* Expected to attend Julio Teheran's showcase next week

* Relievers on the radar include Hand, Giles, Soria and Doolittle, though not serious yet

* In market for a first baseman/someone to provide Dalbec insurance. LHH likely.

This season is going to be another crap lost season! Bloom hasn’t done damn thing yet that makes much sense! It’s all good guys.... we can have Brewer as an ace....

Kluber to Yanks

It sucks if he's good, but I'm not broken up over it because it's just as likely he morphs into Smoltz in his busted Boston final year. When I read Kluber maxed at 90 mph in his showcase, I wondered if he was airing it out one last time for a contract, and might hinder his rehab and hurt his comeback.

Do we really want to watch another season with more pitchers in a new "rotation" coming off of injuries?

Today the Yankees improved relative to the Red Sox and others ... but it was just one day.

The Red Sox may make the major improvements next week or next month.

Or not.

Must mean Tanaka is going back to Japan.

Our next target: Odorizzi.

We're running out of top options.

I'm at DEFCOM 3.

Well we do still have Sale and ERod.

Hopefully Bloom moves on to Odorizzi and gets some PR/improvements done quickly...

Sale is not coming back reincarnated! He will never throw mid 90’s again and his our pitch will be limited to take the strain off that arm! The cliff is going to be substantially longer since we won’t make the moves necessary to assure future help in the needed areas! I get hated on for wanting to explore options for Devers.... as a GM looking to rebuild a franchise, Bloom needs pieces for future rosters! We need arms and middle infielders! Teams like Atlanta would be a possible suitor to dangle Devers in front of. They have arms for days! Take Leiter in the draft and steal some gems from Atlanta and set this team up with a dominant staff 3-4 years from now!
