Jose Fernandez

Dontrelle Willis

Luis Castillo

When did they trade Jose Fernandez?

Luis Castillo is well behind all the other players mentioned so far.

Just for fun I went ahead and compiled the Red Sox All-Traded (since 1970) Team, and it's pretty incredible LOL

George Scott at 1B for his best years, but Cooper may be the right choice.

They also traded Youk, but when he was just a shellof himself.

Shoppach is the only catcher of substance traded away, as far as I know.

Mike Stanley for C?

He was only a part time C at that point.

I take it it’s an “All Came Up With The Red Sox And Were Traded Away” Team?

And we always forget how to squeeze Ben Oglivie on to that team…

If that was the case I'd have to dump Manny.

It was more like an "Exercise to Kill Time With Red Sox Trivia".

How about a pre- un-roided Gagne? Also, Lee Smith.

While some of those guys hadn't quite matured yet (Schill, Tudor, Ojeda), and one revamped his career (Eck), the two most regrettable giveaways were Lyle and Arroyo -- an established closer, and starter, both entering their primes. Sparky won the Cy Young in NY and Bronson won over 100 games in Cincy.

And don't forget Jamie Moyer, a 10-year vet traded at age 33... he only pitched until he was 49 and won 200 more games.

This is just an exercise on the best players the Red Sox traded away.

Moyer is a mind-boggler.

Boston was just one quick stop on his travels.

Years after the fact and we still can't come to terms with the fact that Mookie didn't want to resign here and wanted to walk, the Red Sox knew that and got what they could for him when they could. It's really that simple.

You’re squeezing Bagwell in at 3b with Carney Lansford screaming at you…

Moyer may have been the only pitcher in MLB history whose age was greater than the speed of his fastball…

It might seem like years, Hugh, but we're actually 2 days short of the first anniversary of the trade.

As for him not wanting to stay here, there are tantalizing nuggets that indicate it was a possibility. Mookie said he came close to accepting an earlier extension offer. And the reports say he did make a counter-offer to the last extension offer, and the Red Sox did not respond to it.

This makes sense, first-year anniversary is sure to bring the pain back for some.

Mookie Betts might have been my favorite player, but life goes on.

You prefer Lansford to Bagwell?

As a third baseman? Yes. There’s a reason Bagwell never played 3b above AA.

I also prefer Bagwell to Cooper at 1b…

Hatteberg at catcher. He had a good enough post-Sox career to be played by Chris Pratt in a movie.

He was also traded to the Rockies for Pokey Reese, so he qualifies..

Did you know that Pokey Reese was once traded four times, to four different teams, in less than two months? On December 18, 2001, Reese was traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Colorado Rockies. The next day, Pokey was traded from the Rocks to the Boston Red Sox for first baseman Scott Hatteberg, but the Sox did not tender him a contract, making him a free agent. On January 30, 2002, he signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

2000-2001 was a miserable time. Weren't even smart enough to keep Pokey. Pokey > Rey Sanchez

Did he catch much? I thought he found success at 1B.

He never caught again after Boston but he was the best catcher the Sox have traded away in the last half century.

Not like Manny played a lot of DH on the Dodgers, but he made the list…

It's a very unofficial list.
