I was going to add that you could asterisk all the Yankee titles during that era because Pettitte admitted taking PEDs, but he's the only ballplayer in history who gets a pass because he "felt an obligation to get back to my team as soon as possible".

So do you believe the rest of the teams were clean?

So you’re arguing Yankee cheating was acceptable because other teams did it?

I believe every team in every era has players who do whatever is the fad to get an edge. The Yankees in the 90s were the best of their particular era, just like the Astros in the 10s were the best of their era...

Clarification: The current video replay era, with manager challenges, began in 2014. Since then, LA has the most wins, with Houston second -- but many fans might argue the Astros were more successful because they won a World Series. The Giants won three rings in the first five years of the past decade, but those were just before or on the fringe of the era in question (that has all but ended)...

Not at all.

But if every team (or most) were, how much of an advantage is it?

New stuff coming out on the Astros scheme.

Seems to suggest that Cora wasn't the 'mastermind' after all, which isn't to say he wasn't heavily involved.

I didn't read anything in the attached piece that lets Cora off the hook.

There is a full hour of MLB Tonight running on a repeat loop this morning that is focused around an interview with Hinch that is worth watching in total. Hinch takes a good deal of responsibility for not stepping in and stopping it as soon as he knew what was happening. But I still have not heard a darned thing that lets Cora off the hook.

Not saying it lets Cora off the hook. But the scheme appears to have been hatched in the Astros 'analytical department'.

Another point made was that when Hinch was asked about using buzzers in 2019, he did not directly refute it.

He’s still on the hook. He’s just not the “mastermind” everyone said.

“Did you use buzzers in 2019?”

“Bzzzzzt.”

Manfred also appears to have known far more about the involvement of Luhnow and the front office than he let on in the official report, which pinned the blame on Cora and the players.

Woof.

Let's do the same with the Sox titles. Papi and Manny failed drug tests. 2018 may not have had any drug cheats, but you gotta * that one due to sign stealing

Why, is the report out?

Yes because the "anonymous sources" for the Red Sox (whose testimony has not exactly held up yet) and internet rumors should be viewed equally to the named sources (and confessions in several cases) and published reports implicating the Yankees.

Also, no way in Hell/Baltimore the 2018 and 2019 Yankees were not stealing signs. None...

Well I am going from memory now. But I think the claim was that he was the architect. Mastermind is a bit for diabolical than architect. If I had to guess, the Mastermind was one or more of the players.

I thought you would appreciate that the new info suggests Manfred was misrepresenting things when he said it was player-driven.

We all knew Cora wasn’t the mastermind. He went to the University of Miami. No one from there masterminds anything!!

I would not be putting an * next to seasons nor would I put them next to Championships even with the horrid Astros story.

Seeing that video clip of Farquhar recognizing that the Astros were signaling the hitter gets more difficult to look at every time I watch it.

I expect the Astros to face a ration of crap from fans this year. Whether they care or not is another story.

I expect the Astro hitters to lead MLB - and possibly set a single season MLB team record - for HBPs...

Those without sin can cry all they want, but it won't change the facts on how much better the 2017 Astros were on the road compared to when they had home field "advantage" (over 100 more runs scored in away games!):

Home 48-33 .593, with 395 runs scored

Away 53-28 .654, with 501 runs scored

New report says they cheated on the road too.

I read the recent reports, just have doubts on how effective or all-encompassing visitors' systems could be in road parks, especially after the Red Sox booted Astros' employees from trying to film inside their dugout in the playoffs. If Cora ever writes an autobio, it would be interesting to see how he had Boston foil Houston's schemes in '18...

The Yankees have deeper skeletons in their closet than anyone is letting on.

Poor babies, got 'cheated' out of a title.
