Not me Travis better player. Ockimey never will play LF too slow. He's a DH or 1st baseman. He'll be one of those Minor Leaguers that will be around so Fans can see HRS. Throw in on a Trade. Edited by OH FOY!

He was a Rule 5 Free Agent, this Off-Season, anybody could have grabbed him, and he wasn't taken. And he's relatively young. That tells you a lot right there. Bet teams would have taken a chance on Travis, at least looked at him, and maybe returned, if they didn't like him. Edited by OH FOY!

I meant Travis in LF not Ockimey. They've already put Travis in LF at AAA this year.

Many are not taken because they are not major league ready. I'm not sure he's any closer now, but he's not blocking anyone, so keep all options open. He might be a late bloomer.

That may be the easiest fix but the only way that works for me is if we sign Mookie. We're going to want one/(Both) of Mookie/JBJ in that outfield. If we don't sign Mookie we've got to be looking for another player with CF skills to manage RF for the Sox. One thing we should have learned by now is that we can't put an "ordinary" RF'er out there and expect him to do the job. It's too big and too angular.

Original post was how to reset after 2019.

We had $12M to take care of arbitration raises for Mookie, JBJ, E Rod among others. No way to do it unless we get rid of one OR JD Martinez opts out.

Personally, I don't see why we reset or target the first barrier of $228M to stay under and not the initial $208M.

Moon thinks we'll reset, I don't think so.

I said reset after 2019 or 2020.

I think we trade JBJ and extend Betts after the season starts, we stay under- assuming we reset this winter.

I think July 31st will tell us more. Once that hits and Betts is still here, Henry will have to Open up the wallet. You'll wont get the Prospects of quality and most important quantity, in Off-Season for Betts.

He'll make at least 24 million, and be a Free Agent after 2020.

Betts still here after July 31st, then the Sox will have to commit, to keep him.

I'd like to keep both MB & JBJ but if that's not something we can do the ball is in Mookie's court. If he extends for a reasonable price we move JBJ (Ughhhhh). If MB won't extend with the Sox we keep JBJ and land someone to play RF.

How'd it work out?

you and I both know, had I not made that comment they would've went O-7 or 0-8 on the day. Both of these guys are terrible and only on this roster because we are so handcuffed right now and lacking talent.

^This. God, yes, this.^

What's all this talk about a fire sale? This team is good enough offensively and defensively to be WSC contenders. A Fire Sale is tantamount to throwing the baby out with the bath water.

I certainly don't like what's happening in 2019 but I wouldn't be having any "fire sales" prior to 2020.

And as our "cerebral friend" intimated, I CERTAINLY wouldn't be attempting to trade Devers and/or Bogarts. It's right up there with Stupid Idea #1.

Last night's game is a good example of what our team should look like. Mookie has heated up. If these guys play like they are capable of playing, we are as good as any team out there.

I remember how upset most people were when Holt was re-signed last time. LOL

Me too. I didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now.

Yeah, this offense is so bad, it's hard to believe it leads the majors in runs per game.

Sandy Leon is a defensive backup catcher. Most teams have one.

What you said was crap and I pointed it out. If you can't deal with it, that's your problem.

Last year Vazquez was out from July to Sept. 8 weeks exactly. Sale was out the majority of those Months also.

Sox were 32-10 in those Months, with Leon. Toughest Part of the year for a Catcher, and he did Damn good.

I never understand why Fans forget this.

Things are looking up, a little.

But, can we still trade Price? ;)

Except for our bullpen. Hopefully, Eovaldi straightens that out. Without a quality pen, a sustained good run will be difficult.

Great points.

Since Leon has been Sale's main catcher, one would expect Sale's poor record this year would harm Leon's winning %. It hasn't, this year.

Price could be traded for another big (but less) salary, of we could include cash as part of the deal.

Price is certainly tradeable, but it is very unlikely to happen.

FanGraphs has Price at a 2.6 WAR and $20.7 million equivalent free agent dollars for the season to date.

He hasn't been earning his full salary since we got him, but he's far from a bust too.

Plus, he got the playoff blues monkey off his back.

fangraphs value dollars has him at $86.5M in 3.5 years- not counting the playoff value. That's about $24.5M/yr.

Yep. And the value of his 2018 postseason performance can't even be measured.

Abreu isn’t what he once was. His K and BB rates are going the wrong way. His BA has declined from his peak as well making his OBP pretty woeful for a 1b. Also, his defense isn’t good. For the season, he’s at 0.8 WAR. He not an upgrade over Chavis
