Not sure what religion has to do with steroids, but you do you.

Wut

Jacko's point is obvious. On the one hand Chavis is assumed to be praying for God to allow him to do well and thanking him for all he has done.

At the same time the kid is taking drugs to help his development.

So I can see some hypocrisy there.

I don't see the hypocrisy at all. Even with drugs (if he did them on purpose) he still may need a little help from Michael Landon.

Nunez wouldn't even bring back the proverbial bag of baseballs right now.

What about a bucket of Lena Blackburne Rubbing Mud?

That team was out of it. They won 89 games, but it was clear they weren't making the playoffs. After runs in 07 - 09, it was a let down of a season for Sox fans. I'm sure YOU remember it well.

A closer parallel to Michael Chavis might be the spring call-up of third baseman Will Middlebrooks on a 2012 Red Sox club that won 69 games.

Or not.

No. That season's issues overshadowed any excitement related to WMB.

I'm just an old soul. I also am trying to reach out to my older fellow progressive MA residents. I'm not quite ready for the senior circuit yet.

Nobody wants either of those guys. No chance. Nunez makes too much and is too injury prone. Holt is just a permanent DL/IL guy.

In fact, now that Holt's eye cleared up, the story is that he has shoulder pain and is coming back to Boston for evaluation. Nice guy, just can't stay on the field enough . You may see a lot less of Nunez and Holt on the active roster as long as Chavis hits well and can cover 2B and 1B. Same for Pearce being absent at some point soon if he can't begin hitting. Pedroia, who knows but the odds are against him making it through the A-S game in an effective way.

I just re-read my posts from today. I'm sorry everyone. Tomorrow I'll provide some Gen Z memeage for you all to enjoy. Maybe I'll whip up some Generation Alpha goodies as a little side dish.

I get it. I'm 94 and 1/2 my unreadable posts are way off the wall, but wuo cares? While I'm at it,this kid (Chavis?) is closerbe to Bobby Doerr tha he can to Middlebrooks!is better compared to Bo

never said "hate".

also, i am one of the people that put zero and i literally mean 0 faith/belief in the 2003 test results reporting. i have never used that list to ping any ballplayer.

Totally agree.

With due respect, Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr was a nine-time All Star who struck out in only 7.6 percent of his plate appearances, walking more times than he struck out.

Michael Chavis (and Will Middlebrooks) offer quite a contrast.

Chavis has a much better approach and patience compared to WMB. If it was near the plate, WMB was swinging.

WMB's K/W ratio 5.08. That's atrocious.

“It’s natural. It’s genetically natural... He’s always had the quick bat. This is just God-given."

Tim Hyers has watching Michael Chavis hit since HS. He's bullish on what the rookie can do at Fenway Park:

something tells me this WMB v Chavis troll job will become EPIC for years to come. one of your better plays Harm.

Michael Chavis and Will Middlebrooks in a comparison of the first 12 games of their respective MLB careers:

MC 47 PA, .289/.426/.553/.978

WM 53 PA, .300/.340/.640/.980

Two taters for chavis tonight against Chicago. Currently hitting well over .300.

Why rush pedrioa back? Let him hang out on the dL for another two months.

The Red Sox will not send Chavis down while he is hitting well and the team is winning.

They will find a way to keep him on the roster.

Man, the guy is killing it. This must be one of the best starts by a Red Sox hitter in history, on short sample obviously.

The Sox have 5 players with an OPS lower than Bradley. It might be difficult to determine who goes when Chavis stats, but NOT for a lack of candidates... Edited by notin

I think the comments by WMB were perfect! They were also a cautionary tale. Not to RS fans, but to Chavis.

He was telling the kid loud & clear, "don't get lost in the hype! Don't take anything for granted! Don't ever stop pushing. Don't get lost in your head like I did. Don't start banging NESN babes that you see at work every day!!! Don't set yourself up for failure by thinking about NESN babes working at your games every night, while you should be working on your bat! Don't be a flash in the pan like me, all because you were more concerned about the wrong bat."

;)

Chavis has arrived. It's up to him to make sure he stays.

Well, Leon stays, for sure.

I doubt we cut Pearce or Pedey loose, although I'd rather have Chavis playing right now than either of them.

Lin is on the IL.

It comes down to Chavis vs Nunez and Holt. I'd keep Chavis as things stand right now.

Cutting Nunez loose may not seem like a good idea, but if we can't get creative with the IL, we may not have a choice. It may come down to Holt vs Nunez... both out of options.

The only reason to keep Nunez, who has been struggling s a hitter and was never a good fielder, is due to his versatility. But Chavis can field 2b and 3b with his level of mediocrity and that frees up Holt to cover some corner OF. Lin can be demoted. And the Sox could demote a pitcher to get back to a 4 man bench...

Maybe the farm is not as barren as some thought .

Chavis is their best prospect by far in the high minors - though Lakins and Feltman (and we've seen Lakins already) could provide some legit 2019 value. The question ultimately is whether Chavis can play 2B adequately enough - his bat clearly can play anywhere.

Chatham is doing very well at Portland .

I am skeptical of Chatham's 2019 value. Dalbec is talented but just strikes out too much to expect him to become a big league starter.*

* NOTE: I am not saying that you can't be a good high strikeout hitter. But striking out over 1/3 of the time against AA pitching is a red flag.
