Nathan Eovaldi 0-0 8.10 vs. Aaron Sanchez 1-1 1.64

Okay boys, time to start winning some games and closing a little ground on the Rays.

And time for our starting pitchers to put up some Quality Starts and quell all the drama about unpreparedness and Leongate.

Nate has limited the Jays to a 82 tOPS+ over his career. He's only been better against 3 other teams with 4+ starts.

Perfect team for him to start a streak against. This game all starts with pitching. We can put up offense, the bullpen can close it out for us. This in my opinion will be decide how Nat pitches. I'll be watching hockey tonight but flipping to the Sox once and a while.

If this team’s not careful they could be 10 games out in April. They need to win games plain and simple. Execute on both sides.

Cora on @weei : We need to pitch better. A lot of conviction in what we are doing, 3-9 doesn't look great, but it's going to get better, our pitching is going to carry us. We need to pitch better, that's the bottom line.

We don't want Sale's velocity to be down, we saw it in Sale's last IP that he was upset and he was touching 95. I was protecting him in Oakland when he was throwing 88 and sick. The slider hasn't been consistent, it's the best in the game and it's not there yet. Delivery is off.

Pedroia feels great, he's playing today and tomorrow. Maybe 2 out of 3, 3 out of 4 with him. Some games will be a grind on him and we'll have to give him a day.

Interesting. Sounds like Cora. Thanks.

Agree it's all about the pitching, but must remind the Sox OPS is 21st best in MLB. Last year it was #1. And our defense hasn't been all that great either.

Perfect night to watch the Masters and the Bruins. Hopefully the Sox give me a reason to change back to NESN+. Win. Dance. Repeat.

Regarding Pedroia, noticing Dustin blocking the base with his left foot on one of the BJ's steals in game 1 of this series , and as noted by Perez, he may be begging for another knee injury That may be Pedey's style and tough play but at this stage caution may be the better part of valor.

When do people think the 1-2 combo of Beni and Betts will kick in, regardless of which one leads off ? Their low OBP's of .314 and .321 are lowest among the top 6 hitters in the lineup. Vazquez, Bradley , Nunez are significantly lower among those with 10 or more AB's so far.

The team needs to start winning games. The other numbers will look after themselves.

J D Martinez is off to a rock solid start so that's a good sign.

Luck must be changing to get a difficult deflection DP. Good to see Bogey and Pedroia turn that, plus Mitch's stretch.

Nat gets the DP. But the best thing about going after the opponent with the kind of FB Nat has tonight is that if you can blow the hitter away on strike 3 with that thing, that is the imprint on the brain the hitter takes back to the dugout. The second time through if you work in more dink and dunk, the hitter has got the FB in his head and he is just dead.

While a loty of focus goes to the Sox starting pitching, that reality is that guys like Devers and Bradley have combined for a 1 rbi to date, matching David Price's total. Bogaerts has 3.

Uh oh. Has JBJ gone back to the 'toe-tap' method of hitting? A style which ensures that you will be off balance no matter when the ball gets there. Of course, the chances of him hitting it are so small, it probably doesn't matter.
